It is funny, because I must be the only one that thinks Kapler did make a mistake last night, and one that could have been a big one had things not turned out better.
In the bottom of the 7th we had just scored to make it 2-1 and Crawford was on first and Nola coming up. At this point Nola has had a very good game and has thrown 88 pitches, we are well into him facing guys for a 3rd time, in fact he is about to face guys for a 4th time. The leadoff hitter the next inning is Billy Hamilton, who Nola has not gotten out (and is a real threat to score the tying run if he gets on base).
I think you have to PH for Nola here. We need the possible offense and Nola should be tiring at this point and will face a guy he hasnt gotten out and then the top of the order. To me this was a mistake, now, it worked out but that doesnt mean it was the correct decision. 88 pitches is not a huge workload, but we are still in early April, it is quite cold, the bullpen is rested and we have yet another off day in a couple days. Should have pinch hit IMHO.
