At worst I think he'll be as good or better than Marsh (strong d, very good against 70% of the pitchers). Until Wilson is back he plays almost every day regardless, unless Marsh or Clemens give him an off day while Rojas is in CF.

Watching Kepler and Marsh against LHP makes me think Mercado would have been the best choice for the last bench spot. Probably does not matter in the larger scheme of things, but the Phillies are going to be vulnerable against good left-handed pitching. There was a reason we wanted Hays last season. The trade not working out does not eliminate the need on the roster. Hopefully Wilson is back soon and gives us what we got in limited playing time last year.

Well, they still have Rojas. Mercado's not much of a bat either, is he? And they just weren't comfortable throwing Kennedy into LF. I think if it wasn't Wilson's job they would have been more aggressive, whether about acquiring someone else or being willing to add Mercado or Arroyo to the 40.

Also yesterday's LH starter was great against everyone. Hopefully this also allows Marsh and Kepler to get better. Not seeing LHPs as often is one of the reasons hitters struggle against them, just as much as the arm and bat angles. And Kepler got to the reliever (as did Schwarber).
