Because it's not Sirianni. It's Hurts (and everything he's done since being a pro) and Howie for drafting him.

Hurts has been recruited by Saban and coached by Lincoln Riley. Tua was drafted #5 and Kyler at #1. Saying Sirianni transformed a top HS recruit and a Heisman runner-up is just wrong. It's always been Jalen. Kudos to Howie for drafting him.

There are like 50, even 100 top recruits and Heisman winners (or even finalists) who amounted to nothing in the NFL. It's everybody. And if you asked Hurts he would say as much.

If memory serves you just never liked the Sirianni hire and didn't believe in him last year. You believed in Hurts. But they were always going to succeed or fail together (i.e if the Eagles had had the sort of season that got their coach fired they'd also be drafting a QB).

And Howie didn't just draft Hurts. He hired the coach to develop Hurts.

Really, it's not just Howie, it's Lurie. They have a culture. The coaches who are aligned with that culture thrive. The one who didn't spectacularly failed, and when it wasn't working for Pederson anymore the cracks also showed (which was also on Wentz - but Howie failed big-time on that one too).

I don't dislike Sirianni (I wouldn't say I like him, either). It's just always the player. I'm sure there are some people that think Mike McCarthy coached up Aaron Rodgers. That's just not how it goes.

I'm fairly sure I was the biggest advocate of Hurts. The fact is that Hurts is the biggest factor in his success. To say otherwise is absurd.

Hurts will credit anyone except for himself. This is why he's so great. If you don't believe that, then ok.

Well, here we are, three days later. I'm back home, catching up on things... and what's this? Somebody flagged a post in a thread that I generally do not see (I have Eagles threads muted, since I really don't care a whit about the Eagles). But the system wants me to look at this, so I'm looking at it.

I don't think the flagged post warranted a flag, and I'm not going to take any action. I note that this thread has been quiet for the past three days, and under the circumstances, I think that shows good judgment on the part of several posters. Thanks for that!

Eagles signing two linebackers to one-year contracts: former Steelers’ LB Myles Jack and former Titans and Texans LB Zach Cunningham.

It’s similar 2-for-1 as to when the Eagles signed two DTs, Ndamukong Suh and Linval Joseph, on same day last season.

Myles Jack was a top 5 LB not long ago. Have to think he can at least hold on to a roster spot, probably not good news for Eliss, etc.

I know nearly nothing about Cunningham. Jack was a great LB a few years ago. Maybe being on a contender will revive him. I wonder what the Eagles will say about the signings?

LB definitely the weak spot on the team so good to see them finally admit that and bring in some more talent.
