There are like 50, even 100 top recruits and Heisman winners (or even finalists) who amounted to nothing in the NFL. It's everybody. And if you asked Hurts he would say as much.
If memory serves you just never liked the Sirianni hire and didn't believe in him last year. You believed in Hurts. But they were always going to succeed or fail together (i.e if the Eagles had had the sort of season that got their coach fired they'd also be drafting a QB).
And Howie didn't just draft Hurts. He hired the coach to develop Hurts.
Really, it's not just Howie, it's Lurie. They have a culture. The coaches who are aligned with that culture thrive. The one who didn't spectacularly failed, and when it wasn't working for Pederson anymore the cracks also showed (which was also on Wentz - but Howie failed big-time on that one too).
