And the QB apparently not being as ready as was thought to make more decisions at the line of scrimmage. He runs well to escape pressure and often to avoid sacks but his design runs and RPO choices haven't been as positive. The play calls, on both O and D are not a surprise to the other team and on both the repertoire is limited: not blitzing and generally overly loose coverage on D and very uninventive motion and screens in playbook. The opposition has figured out our version of the RPO.
This was a team supposedly built to win through the lines. Both the O and D lines have been less than advertised. The O line run blocks fine but hasn't had a good pass blocking game is weeks. It would be a big help to have an almost-average group of LBs, but the D line was awful against both the run and hitting the passer today.
The team has looked poorly coached a lot this season.
I am tired of the almost constant prevent defense. They need to play the receivers tight and blitz on some 3rd downs. They might give up a quick TD or two, but the defense wouldn't get as tired out as it does with multiple sustained drives and they might force more punts and turnovers. Too many games in which the opposition has had a string of scoring drives. I think the Cardinals punted once today.
The O coordinator and both D coordinators haven't impressed this season.
