Maddox out indefinitely, probably until Super Bowl week (if the team is alive at that point) with a bad injury to his big toe.

I suspect we will not see Dillon starting now, but I would be tempted to give him the nod. I know the rumor is that he can't play tackle, but that is based on a couple games as a rookie. He is the most talented option and the truth is every time he has played in the last 3 years he has been ok, he just didn't beat Mailata for the job. Driscoll is ok as a backup, but as a starting tackle I fear for Hurts.

Who is Dillon? Are you talking about Dillard, our former #1 draft choice who had difficulty on the right side of the line before?

Driscoll is solid, especially in pass protection. I don't think he would create any reason to fear for Hurts.

I did Zamby, but wasn't sure where to put the comment.. But what an effortless throw he has. helluva gun! Beautiful day for a game today. Probably Minshew playing. I think this one is up to the Defense again. they gave up a lot last week (a few short fields though). The saints D is better than the cowboys d. Can the eagles contain Dalton?he's old but has been in some big games. a lot of short passing and Prescott killed them on that last week. Eagles have to run the ball successfully. I think this is going to be a close one. who wins it? Will the eagles get the bye, better draft pick and rest? or not? I have my tickets for next week. win or lose, I'm still going. Will they mean anything? hope not. will 3rd and 30 be this season's tipping point? hope not. Happy and Healthy New Year to everyone.

Feels like Philadelphia sports is almost done returning to its rightful status

(I exaggerate but I remember a few months ago when the Phillies and Union were going to win it at all, the Flyers were hot - if still implausibly so - and the Eagles perfect).

Right now it just feels like these last four games are going to take a physical tool, and already have.

And the draft pick subplot to boot!

Giants might be the ones resting more regulars next week per current scores.

No way Gannon should have a job at halftime. I would have security escort him out of the building.

Let's just rush 4 and play zone. It will work, I saw Bud Carson do this for years.

Please run the ball in the second half. Saints are second in the league against the pass, 23rd against the run. So we came out throwing on every play.

I wonder if they "activate" Hurts at halftime. I assume not, but it has to be a thought if he is close. Pretty clear Hurts is the MVP now.

Driscoll was atrocious in this game. The offensive play calling in the first half was laughable (again), but Driscoll allowing sack after sack made sure that nothing would work. No idea why they didn't come out ramming the ball down the Saints throat given how good the Saints pass defense and his poor their run defense is, but who knows. Dillard needs to take his spot.

I don't see how anyone could not vote for Hurts as MVP now.

The last 2 weeks Minshew had two incredible opportunities to create incredible value as a free agent.

It's apples and oranges really. Coming in as a back-up is not easy, and a different skill, than actually having the keys to an offense and a season's worth of prep. Today was obviously much worse than last week but someone is still going to be happy to have him and start him and game plan for him. What he's done for his whole career still counts more than some of the flash-in-the-pan back-ups who had two better weeks than he just did.

Not saying he's anything special but I don't think he was going to be looked at as an elite starting QB regardless. Just a possible one.

Back-up QBs almost always crash back to Earth in their second consecutive game starting. Minshew is a good back-up, but just that In my humble opinion. He's not a good back-up for the Eagles, who need a QB who can at least threaten to run the read option since their offense is based so much on that play and its counters. There are plenty of mobile back-ups who aren't good enough to start, Howie needs to find one. You can't rescript your whole offense if your #1 QB goes down.

Gannon seriously needs to change things up occasionally according to game situation.

The awful call on the Dickerson block seriously changed the game flow. One of the most influential blown calls I can remember.

They really need to make penalties reviewable on coaches challenge only. I wouldn't want to see them reviewed automatically, but that Holding call was critical and crippling. Eagles still should have shown up and won, but thww we t play did change the flow and quite possibly the outcome of the game.

That said, the pick 6 by Minshew was horrible. You just simply can't challenge a great CB like that, even if he is coming off an injury and has lost a step.

Yup, no way a 13-win Eagles team could ever win the Super Bowl without a top seed.

But seriously - that team still had a home game. Would indeed be pretty disastrous to go from 1st to 5th. They probably win in Tampa - though no reason to be confident about it if they've just lost three in a row - but lose the next one.

Of course this is not even a conversation if Hurts is healthy. He will presumably play and win on Sunday but will he be 100% going forward even with another week off?

sorry kids, I do have some words. we had New Years dinner and the grandkids were running around during the game. I did not see a lot of the second half. I am watching the DVR now. What I do know is Bisquick has a new Marketing situation. show Dickerson's PANCAKE block on the cover of their boxes. I could have used another Pancake company, but I think these days that would be Politically Incorrect. That was an absolute terrible holding call. both of Dickerson's hands were inside the DL's shoulder pads. An O lineman's dream block. Very Poor.

Yesterday's harm is more to next season than to this season. And no, all excuses for backup QBs aside, Minshew has demonstrated that he is below average rather than the claimed well above average. The QB Factory seems to lack a legit #2 or #3.
