I think if Pitts slips to 8 or 9 they may use some ammo to trade back up and get him. But it's my unreasonable curiosity of what the offense would look like with both Pitts and Goedert speaking, maybe...

Ertz has got to bring something back, right? Or will they just keep him?

Supposedly there's interest from multiple teams but Eagles still asking for too much (a 3rd or a 4th). And he maybe wants his release so he can pick his destination.

I would keep him for 2021, unless Pitts or the Penn State TE falls in their lap.

He will be in a contract year so should play his heart out.

A 4th rounder is too much for Ertz? In that case, keep him. A couple of reasons: His awful season last year is likely the result of Wentz being horrible last year, and I don't want the Eagles to get the rap of a team that just gives away super cheap or even releases unhappy players who don't want to play out their contract, demanding extensions into future years in which their performance is reasonably very suspect. Giving in to the demands of Wentz and Ertz in the same season is simply too much, it makes the Eagles look like a patsy that is easily rolled by any player wanting more years/$ than provided by the recent contract extension he happily signed. What's the downside? It's not like Ertz's attitude has the chance to screw up a team with a healthy shot at post-season. The Eagles are going to stink next season. The Eagles also allowed them to be played by Jason Peters, giving in to his demand for more $ to move to tackle. The 'if you're unhappy here, you can just pick another team you want to play for' crap is deadly. Really, almost none of the players would pick Philly as their first choice of team to play for this upcoming season.

Yup, but as with Wentz that's not a realistic attitude. He wants out, the Eagles not only want him out but want to shed his salary and playing time, and every team knows it,. So you either take the 5th rounder or you release him just to do a solid for an all-time great player (as the Texans did for Watt).

The only thing they might want to avoid is letting him go to Indy.

Contract year for Ertz, it was not a contract year for Wentz. I think once that is taken into consideration, Ertz will be motivated to play well. Wentz has no such motivation and even listening to his recent interview, he never answered the question as to why he wanted out. But when he brought up why it was difficult to play here, he brought up the Super Bowl. The leader of the team making a shitload of money was worried about a backup leading the team to a SB? Wentz also supposedly had a locker room rift?

I think it is pretty clear the Eagles admitted their mistake and moved on. No need to move Ertz unless a deal that helps the Eagles comes along.

But I don't think the Eagles want to keep Ertz. Far as I remember they were figuring to trade him even if his good pal was still the QB. The comparison here is not Wentz, it's someone like Jeffery. They're ready to move on (and use the salary elsewhere), it's just a question of what value they can extract.

Well, it is certainly not Jeffrey, he had no value in a trade.

Ertz does and as AT says, you don’t want to become a team that is known for trading away players that don’t get their contracts renegotiated at the whim of the player.

If the Eagles were over the cap, I guess I could see a little merit with what you are saying but there is more merit to have the two tight ends for the year to help out the offense.

If I am the Eagles, I plan on keeping him unless I get fair value in trade.

This is old news, but once you've given a player permission to shop around for a new team of his choosing, you've already decided to give up most of your leverage. They're still trying to get the best deal they can, but it won't be "fair value" in a vacuum. Like I said either they want him gone or they want to help him out, or both.

Anyway, this is silly. Eagles have the right to not approve any trade offers that don’t meet their needs. Pretty simple. They will likely get value but your argument doesn’t make sense.

Of course they will turn down any offers they don't like, and already have. But once there is only one offer left, they'll take it. That part is like Wentz. If no team meets their offer at all, they'll have missed out on the market. I just don't see a path where they keep him in that case. Not because he is calling all the shots - they don't want him!

And I suspect that is partly to due to Wentz - Ertz was close to him, as was Press Taylor. This is part of the rebuild/fresh start.

I went for weapons at the top, and numbers defensively and on the OL later. I think Patterson might be a really good big back, too.

Fans and pundits are very high on Pitts--we don't know that teams are. I suspect he's gone somewhere between 6 and 12, and Chase, too.

I think the most likely of the big 4 skill players that could be there at 12 out of Chase, Smith, Pitts and Waddle is Smith. There are going to be teams that are scared of his size, but if he's there and the other three are gone, I think they have to take him, he was a monster in college, so forget about his size. DJax got the same scrutiny when he came out, which is why the Eagles got him in the second round.

A lot will depend on if the first four picks are all QBs, which they could be, we know the first three will be. Atlanta at 4 could be taking the last QB, be it Lance or Fields or if they go elsewhere I don't think they are going receiver, Pitts is possible, they could also trade back with Carolina or Detroit, which would like a QB. Bengals at 5 would be stupid not to draft Sewell. Miami is certainly taking 1 of the 4, likely Chase, then I think the Lions at 7 could go receiver having just lost their best receiver in free agency but they also need a QB. I think the 8th pick, whether it is the Falcons or the Panthers could be a spot for Pitts, but it could also go defense. I think the Broncos at 9 and the Cowboys at 10 go defense as well and certainly won't pick a receiver. The Giants are the wildcard. They have needs at a lot of positions, if they don't select a receiver, then it is possible that 2 of the 4 could be there for the Eagles at 12, but at least 1 should be.
