Barnett's contract became official, $10 mil guaranteed. Eagles officially release Jeffery and M. Jackson. The had to be under the cap yesterday, so I guess they got there. Still don't have a clear picture where they are at cap wise, but they must be pretty much up against it because they haven't signed anyone in free agency. The still have Ertz to trade.

Johnston has a big leg, but is not great at putting it inside the 20 consistently. I think finding a punter shouldn't be too hard, there will be a few UDFA available after the draft who will be decent NFL punters.

I think it's a bit early to be worrying about forfeiting 2022 comp picks. Like worrying about the Eagles signing zendajas at safety a few years back -- it resolved itself with no forfeiture. Plus Sudfeld is now a FA and if he signs somewhere then the forfeiture is probably "re-forfeited," right.

As to what we paid Flacco, I don't see it as a giveaway. Doubling of salary is more a commentary on Flacco's situation when he signed his 2020 contract. He needed to get onto a roster, without being able to do camp or being available for the first several weeks of the season. We paid Sudfeld $2MM last year -- if Flacco was ready for a season he gets more than Sudfeld.

Personally I wanted Tyrod Taylor, Mariotta or Brissett in that order. Taylor signed for $5.5M + $8 incentives; Brissett $5.0M +$8M incentives and Mariotta just re-signed today for $3.5M + $8M in incentives. I suspect that Mariotta re-signing today may have impacted doing the Flacco deal, and he probably wanted a few more bucks guaranteed this year in exchange for reducing the incentives content.

Yes. 6 --> 12 and picked up a#1 next year and moved up a round (5 ->4) this year. Evaluated by draft points it's a big win.

We may have 3 first round picks next year, depending on how many snaps Wentz plays for Indy. Great trade chips for Howie.

We will stink this year, but get a year to evaluate Hurts.

You can already find a lot of stories about that, even before this trade (both Eagles-specific and not). Bo Nix (Auburn) may top the list. Spencer Rattler (Oklahoma). Brock Purdy. Several others, not sure any of them would be sure-thing Top 10 picks (at least not yet), let alone immediate starters on a playoff team (but is that even an expectation for 2022?)

I agree it is great value, but based on the other trades today, it is almost certain both Chase and Pitts would have been there at six, and those are as close to fool proof picks as you can get. Hopefully Smith drops to 12.

They would probably need to go to 9 because the Cowboys and Giants pick 10 and 11, probably not looking to help the Eagles.

The Cowboys and Eagles just made a draft-day trade last year, and it certainly wasn't the first time (we helped them get Sean Lee in 2010 and traded out of the first round with them to take Kolb in 2007). But also, you never know how the rest of it will play out.

People also thinking they go defense now.

I'm seeing a lot of new mock drafts that have Smith falling past the Eagles pick, or the Eagles picking Waddle, even saw one where Pitts gets to the Eagles at 12, so who knows. There should be a good player at 12, let's just hope Howie doesn't try to "outsmart" the rest of the league.

Yeah for all we know the Eagles have Waddle at the top of their board, just like they had Reagor over Jefferson. D'oh! Hurts has already talked about how much he loves him and presumably the new QB coach would love to get Pitts. But Surtain's name has always been in the mix too.

They could also just keep trading down.
