I disagree with this assessment. Jackson can attend all meetings and work all off-season with the coaches. He won't be doing anything for the next 8 weeks anyway, and he will have to rehab for a week or two or three after that before even being able to practice. You are talking about 3 weeks of practice time or so. Not worth wasting a 53-man spot.

You are only "wasting" a 53 slot for one week, and 8 weeks and being allowed to practice might be valuable, especially if the Eagles are floundering and they move Ertz or Goedert at the trade deadline.

I understand your point, but you aren't wasting the slot for one week, you are exposing whoever you don't put on the roster for that week, too. If keeping Jackson active costs Awosika or Johnson or Ta Jackson or Stevens or Stoll, that is a lot more significant than at most 8 weeks of practice time for a developmental tight end (and what is likely to be a lot less than 8 weeks).

In other news the Eagles activated Landon Dickerson and Rodney McLeod today, so no PUP/NFI list for them during the season.

The Eagles traded Matt Pryor and their 2022 7th round pick for the Colts 2022 6th round pick.

Practice squads can start to be named tomorrow, so the roster will be in flux until waivers and practice squad assignments. I still think Jackson goes on IR after week 1 and Rodgers comes back.

Tuipuloto was a quite surprising "keep". I would have thought he was not even a certainty for the practice squad. Awosika might be a good player who we lose to trying to be too clever here--all the beat reporters had him either making the 53 or being hidden somehow. And if you hav been following the discussion, you know I think wasting a roster spot on TE Jackson instead of putting him on season-ending IR is just silly.

Again, Jackson's injury is a 8 week recovery time, so this way he can practice, learn the offense, remember he just became a TE 5 minutes ago, so let him work with the coaches and refine his knowledge of the position. He'll be off the roster after the Atlanta game and on the IR but able to practice and can be brought back later in the year if needed.

Awosika was one of their upper rated UDFA. Even though he went to a small school (Buffalo) he was pretty good. i think some team will give him a spot on the 53. otherwise, i think howie wanted to save face on some of his draft picks and he kept them. Tui was a surprise. he didn't look too spectacular in the pre season games. guess he showed at the 2 combined practices.

Yes, he was an UDFA signed by the Browns for a decent amount, surprised they set him free based on what they paid to sign him.

Reported but not officially signed yet I suppose coming from outside the team, they are doing their due diligence before making it official. Once he is signed, they'll still have one vacant slot.

Last spot is for WR KeeSean Johnson off of Arizona's cuts. I suspect they didn't need to do physicals for their own guys but do want to do them for the guys from other orgs (Wilson, Johnson) which is the delay in official announcement.

Eagles bring back DT Ridgeway and TE Jackson, OL Driscoll and CB Scott go on IR. They now have 2 open spots on the 53. They also added TE Nick Eubanks to the practice squad That puts the practice squad at 17, which is one over, so I suspect at least one of the open spots on the 53 will come from the practice squad one Wilson signs.
