IIRC, everybody hated Pederson doing this at first when variance was not on his side and then fans were suddenly fine with it when they converted a bunch.

I haven't looked up the expected points in that situation, but it seems like an easy decision to go for it rather than a 52 yard FG.

Luckily, the Eagles D got better as the game went along, at first it looked like, bend don't break on the first couple of drives, but then the front four got pressure, just rushing four. There were no real blitzes. Once they got the lead, the D line just pinned their ears back and feasted. Next week will be a real stiff test at home vs. the 49ers.

Yes, I think the defensive front was the biggest difference after the first 2 drives.

It also seemed like Atlanta blitzed a lot and Hurts did very well against it.

I don't know if Kerrigan played, I know I didn't hear his name called, I just checked the ESPN Box Score and he isn't listing among the defensive players.

Hosting a playoff game if the season ended today. Might have home field throughout; I don't know how the tiebreakers play out at this point...

Hard to know how much of it was the Eagles being good and the Falcons being bad. 49ers, Cowboys and Chiefs the next 3 weeks. Could easily play well in all those games and come out with a 1-3 start to the season. Definitely good to be in first place.

Not exactly Eagles related… more NFL.

Did anyone else see Chris Mortenson, longtime ESPN anchor on NFL stories. He had Stage IV throat cancer about 5 years ago and has been out and occasionally in since. Really sad to see him, his voice is pretty much gone, he looks to be in bad shape. I complement ESPN for retaining him, just sad to see the shape he is in, but he is still around so that is impressive.

Hard to see. As a fellow Cancer Survivor I wish him well and hope he can continue to do what he can on TV, I assume he is doing this out of a love of his job, but hope he doesn’t push himself too hard.

I still think it needs to be DB. The DL seems solid, but I guess it depends on who is there. I know they could have 3 first rounders.

K’von Wallace is really standing out as having no clue what he is doing. He almost solely gave up the long play before halftime by not even attempting to make a play on the receiver.

Epps is also consistently getting picked on

Eagles have a ton of yards but only 3 points. It was stupid to go for it on 4th and goal on the 3, it was really stupid to run that play that wasn’t even close to working.

Offense stalls once again at the +40. It is great to try and make these long passes, but they need to also take the underneath stuff.

Eagles lose their chance on a “could not have avoided” penalty on Wallace. Player was going down and his head was ahead of him. Hit him with his shoulder on the helmet 2 1/2 feet off the ground and they called him for a helmet hit.

They have to fix these rules. If a offensive player is going head first and horizontal to the ground the defender will always hit his head, that can’t be a penalty.

This changed the game, he fumbled and maybe the Eagles could have come back.
