3 months ago I expected this Eagles / Cowboys game to be meaningless. At that point I didnât expect them to be resting players, I expected them to be evaluating young players for next season.
Sirianni deserves credit for making a mid-season change to the offense and creating a bit of a âwe donât want to have to play these guysâ offense. The defense, which is statistically pretty good, really needs to be re-thought. The main reason our defense looks good is that we were wildly lucky in playing teams without a viable QB. The bend-donât-break idea is just horrible. When we played good offenses, we gave up 80% completion games way too easily (and we also made a few bad QBâs look good in some of the other games). Gannon may someday be ready to be a DC, but he isnât even close now. He did not adjust, he just got very lucky in facing bad offensive teams fir 2 months. Sadly, we wonât keep getting that lucky.
I a concerned that tonightâs game might be 50-0. The Eagles starters are probably not competitive with the Cowboys, the backups really should get blown out.
