With patchwork LG and Foles adjusting to his receivers, I thought the offense did well. The defensive secondary was bad and the Giants got a touchdown after they had punted, when our punt team was off sides. A lot of Najee Goode at MLB.

Hopefully they can wrap things up, and early, on Christmas night. Give the defense a break and get Sudfield second-half reps in the finale.

I thought the Eagles' magic number for home field throughout was 2, not 1. Do they have the tiebreaker on the Vikings regardless if the Vikes win out and we lose to the Cowboys?

Edit...from Sheil Kapadia: " The Eagles need to win one of their last two games or have the Minnesota Vikings lose one of their last two to earn the No. 1 seed in the NFC."

Minnesota papers are reporting the same tiebraker scenario. Walking through the conference tiebrakers:

1) No head to head, pass
2) Eagles are 10-1 in conference; MN is 8-2. If MN wins out (GB, CHI), best they can do is match Eagles at 10-2 (DAL only conf game for Eagles)
3) Eagles win common opponents braker. Eagles are 5-0 in common opponents (WAS - 2; CH; LAR and CAR). MN is currently 3-1 (WAS, LAR, CH vs loss to CAR) with one game with CHI remaining. So best MN can do is 4-1.

I've read several places now that if the Eagles win next week it secures HFA. It's not like Sheil to get this wrong, but it seems he might have initially, although his quote above agrees with the win one or one Minnesota loss for HFA.

My recollection is Sheil (or someone at the Athletic) wrote that if the Eagles win two games (after last week's win) they had it clinched, and it doesn't sound like that has changed. Now it's one game.

Yes, you're right I think. I must have listened too closely to the (horrible) announcers. If I had heard about "Giant Pride" one more time I might have had to throw something at the TV.

The Vikings also play on Saturday, on the road, at night, against their biggest rival. They should be favored (regardless of who the Packers QB is) but it won't be an easy one. If they lose, suddenly Pedersen's biggest challenge will be deciding how to keep everyone sharp for two meaningless games and two weeks off. But I'd take that.

Green Bay was eliminated from the Playoffs last night which I suspect means Aaron Rodgers now gets shut down and they go with Huntley against the Vikings on Saturday.

Detroit, Seattle, and Dallas are on the outside looking in in terms of playoffs now--they all have to win 2 games and hope ATL loses 2. ATL has the tie-break against all of them.

Falcons don't have it easy. Would be fun to eliminate the Cowboys from the playoffs, but would still be more fun to not need that game (or allow them to be spoilers).

Well, who had them at 13 - 2 with home filed advantage through the playoffs? It was actually a pretty awful game tonight. The offense was terrible. Defense was good enough to beat a bad team. If they play like they did tonight, it will be a short run in the playoffs. Still, they are 13 - 2 with the best record in the NFL, hard to believe...

Yup as I think I already said, there is no way I can be disappointed. I pretty much expect them to lose one of the two NFC games, even at home. But they might not! The defense felt like a definite mixed bag but hopefully the down time will help (physically and schematically).

Just the second 13-win season ever and, well, we all remember the last one.

We've seen what happens when franchise QBs go down. Green Bay and Rogers, Houston and Watson, etc....Foles is a good backup, but he's a backup for a reason. If "Good Foles" shows up and he can game manage well, then they can win. If Foles is in a position where he has to win the game....I'm skeptical.

Anyone have any idea if Sudfeld is more mobile then Foles?

Foles is about the best back-up QB in the league, despite the awful performance yesterday. Unless the Packers are forced to release Rogers there are no upgrades available.

And the Vikings are doing it with third-stringer Case Keenum (and Pat Shurmur). For me it's not that Foles is bad, he's just not going to be the thing that overcomes the team's other injuries or flaws, and Wentz might have (and was already doing it). But he's still the best and only available option.
