That's a fair assessment, although Sudfeld did as well as Foles, with a poorer supporting cast yesterday. I accept that Foles is about an average NFL backup. I don't accept that he's the best backup QB in the NFL, because he hasn't shown that. We have to go with Foles now, but I wouldn't bring him back next season.

Whether or not I would bring him back next year depends on how he plays in 2 weeks, and then a week later. If he manages to win both those games (with help, of course) I'd have to seriously consider bringing him back, or at least trying to trade him for value.

Bringing him back or not probably depends a lot on Wentz's recovery and who they might like to carry as the #3.

I wish Foles had made 15 starts this year like Keenum so we could compare them. I mean, obviously I don't wish that, but you can't really call Keenum a back-up at this point. He even started more than half of of the Rams' games last year, whereas Foles has not seen regular action since 2015. Reps matter as much as raw talent and there's nobody - not Foles, not Sudfield, not Kaepernick - who can bring that to the Eagles now alas.

Positive Spin: I'm still optimistic about next week. Atlanta got two special teams turnovers and played in front of a stadium full of fans that have been football fans for like 10 minutes. Eagles have lost 2 games at home in the last two years that they actually cared about.

i wish i could feel the same . but watching this bills game. this could be what we see next weekend. chuck and duck for 3-4 yards, an occasional 5-6 yard run. i think matt is gong to carve the eagles up with his receivers. shame the injury had to happen.

Home playoff game tomorrow afternoon. 30 degrees and windy, probably help s the Eagles a bit. Home crowd sill hopefully be noisy. D probably needs to make a few plays, and the rushing game has to be there.

Eagles win a tough, gritty game over the Falcons, 15 - 10. Foles played well, the defense was very good. NFC championship game next Sunday here in Philly!

Highlights for those who missed it:

Nick Foles completed 23-of-30 (76.7%) attempts for 246 yards and a 100.1 passer rating. Foles’ 76.7% completion percentage is the highest single-game figure in Eagles playoff history.

One of those rare games where apparently no offensive lineman was guilty of holding.

Eagles with more mistakes and a backup QB and still pull off the upset.

That performance was more impressive than it felt (to me). Near-perfect defensive game with all points off turnovers. Would have been nice if they'd gotten a TD instead of the field goal in the 3rd quarter. And with Wentz they probably go for it in the 4th quarter (and I would have felt better about his ability to get them into FG range quickly had the Jags scored). Underdog or not that was still a home game against the 6th seed. I think I'd prefer to see the Vikings next week but who knows.
