Interesting guy, always controversial, but one time got in trouble for paying for his player to go to his mother’s Funeral. That is what I remember, he broke the rules, but it was sometimes the right thing to do.

He was clearly a jerk in some ways, but he also genuinely cared about his players.

I'd still go with the chair-throwing and the choking of a player as the first and second negative thing, and there's a much longer list after that. But for sure, passionate often great coach, genuine educator, and also a pretty big jerk. It's gonna be one of those obituaries that gives the whole picture for sure I expect - no sugarcoating just because he died.

This was a really good story. Knight was closer to Coach K as far as most people knew, but apparently that was a rocky relationship.

Yeah, Bob Knight leaves behind a complicated legacy. On the one hand, his teams won a lot of games and three national championships, most of his players graduated, he ran a clean program and he refused to take a salary that exceeded professors. But, on the other hand, yes, he was something of a boor. His legacy was not dissimilar to Dallas Green's.

Yes, I know Jimmy was put in hospice more than a year ago but somehow he they keeps going (tough dude). I almost wish that he is not aware enough that he understands what happened, no one can imagine losing your partner of 77 years.

1983 Phillie Willie Hernandez, traded to Detroit where he became a superstar the following ST. Hard to believe that he pitched 80 games and 140.1 innings in 1984 and remained good the following two years.
