Anyone who started the number of seasons he did would rack up the numbers he had if they were near-average. Not to diminish that, it isn't easy to be league average over 22 seasons, that alone is impressive (kinda implies he was better than average for a period.).
My point was that he was a very good player because of his defense, worthy of HOF in my opinion because of that and not bad offense. The 3B version of Ozzie Smith (although obviously a very different player, and Ozzie's speed made him special offensively)
