Very sad to see Michael Collins die, though 90 is a good age. The picture he took of the moon lander, over the Moon, with Earth in the background is iconic. Real pity he never got to walk on the moon. I hope we see people on the Moon again shortly, and Mars not long after.
When you refer to Michael Collins in this part of the world people will typically assume you are referring to the military/political leader of the War of Independence, but interesting fact the astronauts grandfather was born in Dunmanway Co. Cork, less than 20km away from the military leaders home outside Clonakilty. I can't find any evidence of it now, but I believe I read somewhere once that the Astronaut was named after the Big Fella, which isn't impossible given he was born only 8 years after the assassination of his potential namesake.
