Well, like Julio above, I've been in lock-down for sometime. Unfortunately, I still have to regularly visit my family doctor for an injection and the local hospital, here in Perth, as an out-patient. Today, I was admitted with an obstructed small intestine.
In Australia, we had a brief window to lock the country down before the virus go out-of-hand. Movement within and between the States has been significantly restricted. In Western Australia, apart from a few exceptions, we are not permitted to travel beyond our local, regional areas. This approach seems to be working. The number of new cases has fallen significantly over the past 8-9 days.
Most notable to me, tonight, is our preparedness for a big of cases when the flu seasons also commences. When I entered the ward, many of the rooms were empty, in stark contrast to earlier in the year when they were filled to capacity. All elective surgeries have been cancelled.
Overall, it gives me great confidence going forward. It does distress me to read stories - domestic and international - of people ignoring expert advice to stay home and to keep their distance when they must go out. Forget this season, people; saviour the next one even more!
