Well, thanks, I still don't understand why are you allergic to cut and pasting URLs. The article doesn't say there is a mystery team or that the Phillies are that team, just that people in an informal survey guessed/speculated they might be more active than Klentak's statements suggest, a possible surprise. And yet the article still only suggests they might sign Lynn or Cobb, which was already a strong possibility IMO (albeit less appealing now that they've been QO'ed).
They would have to sign (rather than trade for) two starters, add a high-priced reliever and add a position player for it to be any kind of a surprise to me. We already know they'd like to sign one starter, trade for another and add a few mid-priced relievers. I don't believe they will sign a 3B, not with Machado looming and so many internal options out there.
The Salisbury article OTOH, basically says forget all that stuff. No Darvish or Arrieta or Lynn or Cobb, no Stanton, no shot at Otani.
Another reason not to go after Stanton is to keep assets for a possible Machado trade, either now or at the deadline. You don't want to let another team get the inside track on him if it can be avoided.
