Wonder if the success of Sanchez and Ranger will have them reconsider to some extent their recent fixation on high velocity pitchers with command issues? While it's a strategy more targeted at the pen, McGarry's struggles, plus the flameout of prospects like Baker et al, makes you wonder if they overestimated their ability to "fix" these pitchers.

I think it's very hard to make it under 92 MPH as a starter (or 95 in the pen), but once the minimum is reached, command and spin rate may have more value than additional velocity, or see Marte, Soto, etc.
On the other hand, secondary pitches tend to be more erratic, a very good changeup made Brogdon a solid setup man, losing control of it has him in AAA ball. But that's b/c his 95 MPH fastball is very hittable. Alvarado didn't become unhittable due to his 97-99 FB, but the additional of a plus cutter at 91.
