Jose Alvarado began a rehab assignment with a scoreless inning tonight at Lehigh Valley. 17 pitches, 13 for strikes.

He's been out since July 6 with elbow inflammation, which also cost him a month earlier in the season.

Brandon Marsh will do all non-game activities today in Lehigh Valley (running, etc) and if that goes well, he’ll DH in Lehigh Valley tomorrow. Pache will DH in LV tonight.

Thomson says Harper’s back is “feeling good.” Day off tomorrow gives him time to rest. Moving forward he’ll be day to day at 1B, depending on how he’s feeling/matchups.

“I wouldn’t expect [to see him out there everyday]. We’re going to try to stretch him out as much as we can.”

Happy to see Cave showing signs of life. Agree that Big Rob seems patient to a fault with his bench players. Sure would be great to see ONE of these patience-quests pay off. I had been hopeful for Cave, especially after his spectacular game against the O's, but then he did nearly nothing for weeks afterwards. Only Big Rob would have had the patience to hang with him. So after a big game yesterday, here's hoping Cave continues to produce. He has nothing left to prove at AAA, so it's now or never. Could make a big difference in the lineup.

A lot of people are wary of facial scans and how it could be mis-used.

Or perhaps Zamby is a notorious crime boss with multiple warrants from many countries.

It just does not seem like something that would save a great deal of time compared to just scanning the barcode on your phone. And it might be more complicated if you have more than 1 ticket on the phone.

The real time spent in entering the ballpark is the line to search purses and backpacks before the metal detectors.

They say the data is not retained but I've got multiple deposits in my PayPal from other companies that said the same.

But yes, it's also just not that hard to get into the games. They have actually upgraded the security scanners so you can avoid the bag checks now too. Which also might violate your privacy, but is more convenient. Same goes for CLEAR which I do have, and which a number of sports venues use. That was a trade-off I was willing to make for certain airports specifically so for me it's too bad they don't have the MLB contract.

Just got the latest email about this from the Phillies and FWIW if you are the person with the Ballpark account your whole group can enter just from your scan, so long as all the tickets are in your account.

But - and this is also true with current system - still a pain to come in and out of your seats if you don't have your ticket on your phone (though once you've scanned in you can usually screenshot, it's only the actual scannable code that can't be).

I have been to two stadiums so far this season and the entry process was very easy at both. At the Rangers, my daughter had all the tickets on her phone and at Yankee Stadium, I had all the tickets for our group on my phone.

We will see how this facial recognition system goes. The article says it is coming to all MLB parks in 2024.

You would think that neither the facial recognition system nor the scanning a code from the ballpark app or wallet would be necessary - that it could just read your phone wirelessly. I paid for the NY Subway that way for the first time a few weeks ago. SEPTA is doing it now too though you still need their app and $ (whereas NY it's just straight-up Wallet, so long as you have that).

So if someone in your group wanted to go out for a hot dog or the bathroom alone how did they get back into the section, just relied on the usher to remember they'd come out? Of course not all ushers are tough either.

Rojas has 8 DRS in 188 innings. Thats the equivalent of about 21 games.

I dont have a lot of knowledge in advanced fielding stats.. does that mean he would do about 56 over a 150 game season?

Ranger Suarez won’t start Sunday, as scheduled. He’s dealing with soreness in his hamstring, which came on in Toronto during the week. Zack Wheeler will start in his place. #Phillies unconcerned that it will be a long-term issue.

Well, yes and no. Over a full season he would probably make a few mistakes or have a few tough weeks (slump or playing through little injuries). Also he has had a really high numbers of chances (such as in the no-hitter). But we've already seen people say he's as good as any defensive CF in the league right now (and some even thought he was already at that level last year, he just wasn't ready to hit).

Pache is +2 in 88 innings. It will definitely be interesting to see how the three CFs (counting Marsh) get used exactly.
