How does the DH work? Do they have to hit for the pitcher or could they theoretically bat for a position player (like Rojas)? Could a team do a double swap where the pitcher enters the lineup and the DH hits for Rojas and then pinch hit for the pitcher the rest of the way?

I'm with Johny here, on that one TV shot with Lorenzen standing sideways, his right arm looked fake. gigantic. he should be able to throw 105.

You can't do anything weird with the DH. You could pinch-hit or pinch-run for Schwarber with another hitter who would then become the DH but you can't double-switch. If Schwarber moved to LF you'd lose the DH spot entirely (your relief pitchers would have to hit). If a pitcher " enters the line-up" it would immediately remove Schwarber from the game (unless he went to another position which would remove that player from the game) and only your pitcher (or subsequent pitchers) could bat in that spot.

Technically he needs to be past the 15-day mark to activate Rhys though. Orion is staying I think.

Well I was kidding, though if they really wanted Covey available I'd give him Lorenzen's spot. Seems me Covey might have actually been injured, or he would have just started one of those games, and now he will go through his normal work just like the guys in Clearwater.

Wasn't even thinking about Rhys, but as far as his playoff roster eligibility I believe Uehlmen would still take care of that. Regardless, someone would still have to be removed from the 40 (and it can't be Uehlmen, if they were to actually activate Covey. No real reason to obviously, he gets neither pay nor service time either way right now).

Bros, that was all that baseball can be. Taut as piano wire. The Braves were the strongest team in the playoffs. The announcers mentioned that the fans might not want to go home. That's championship baseball. I advise the DBs to mail it in.

I'm tempted but I don't think its gonna happen. I am gonna take the short hop to London for next weekends game and watch with some Phillies fans in one of the Passyunk Avenue bars.

I think they have 3 and a half now. They are thriving. The original bar, which was tiny, two much larger bar/restaurants, and then in a shopping centre/mall they have a spot in a food court along with some batting cages.

Speaking of flights, in more somber news, while we were all sitting on the edges of our seats at the end of the game, a Philly police officer was killed at the airport while intervening in a vehicle break in. Hopefully the Phillies have a moment to honor him on Monday.
