I am not policing discussion, heck, I started this thread and posted the original Candelario article. But part of a trade rumor thread is also determining what's credible and what's not, and the difference between a reporter supposedly having a source (even though the source might still be dubious) and a columnist just playing fantasy baseball. The Candelario thing was very clearly the latter (with SI doubling down on it without any additional substance) - not multiple sources vs. one source (as bkox posited) but rather, no sources, nor any claim to have one. So was curious if you'd seen any thing more firm. Likely whatever you heard on the radio was not either.
So far there's certainly been no indication the Phillies consider 3B to be an area they have to address, or consider Bohm to be a weak spot on the roster. (Not to mention they have Sosa, Harrison and Clemens/Ellis capable of playing there. Yay?) There hasn't even been any mention by the beat writers about his struggles, unlike many other players. Which doesn't mean they don't see it. We find the idea that the Phillies might - or should - do it plausible, but is it?
Aqua, teams stopped trading their top prospects for rentals long ago. But the rentals still get traded. Candelario wouldn't cost much which is part of the charm. Goldschmidt (another not-rumored name that has basically just been one Cardinals fan/writer saying they need to trade him and including the Phillies as a team that needs a 1B, which is technically not untrue) would be a very different story but even then, as the reigning MVP, Cards would probably have to include $ to get a bigger return.
