And the Knicks win, but in watching their game, not scared of them at all.

Gonna be a lot of irrational exuberance (assuming the Sixers actually win on Wednesday). It's certainly the most favorable draw, but the only thing that really matters is the only thing that ever matters. I'm gonna assume they get a fully or almost fully healthy Joel on Wednesday (though even that is not a given). Will he stay that way for four games? Ten?

Does the NBA reseed? If the Sixers win the 2-7 matchup do they then face the winner of 3-6 or do they get the highest seed left (presumably Boston).

I honestly think the Sixers have a good chance against anyone else, but Boston is probably hopeless.

Well, honestly I kinda expect us to make it to the Conference Finals if they can keep Embiid healthy. If he can’t play we lose to literally any playoff team (proven during the season, without him the Sixers are a bottom 8-10 team).

Heat/Knicks/Pacers/Celtics is the path they face. If they lose to the Heat, it changes a lot. Pacers will handle the Bucks I think.

They can beat anyone if Joel is healthy and Maxey is shooting 40% from 3. The supporting cast is pretty good. They will miss Melton if he's out when they (if they) get to the Celtics.

I would never do it as a fan but if I had the choice between putting $100 on the Sixers making the conference finals vs. putting $100 on Joel missing two games or more due to injury I'd only pick the first one due to the better payoff.

Hadn't even thought about them losing to the Heat and then beating the other play-in winner, which gets them a first-round date with Boston.

Agreed that with a healthy Joel they could beat both Indiana and Milwaukee but they could also lose to the Knicks. Wasn't he in the line-up for the first two losses? (I realize the Knicks have their own issues.)

i actually have a good feeling about the Sixers this post season. Remember, this team was the 3rd seed and was cruising along before Embiid got hurt, so this is a bit of a lurking 7th seed team that could maybe get to the conference finals and might give the Celtics a real test. I actually hope for a long playoff run because the longer they play the more the roster can congeal and they might be playing their best ball by the time they meet the Celtics.

No question they are a dangerous - and much better-coached - team if Joel is healthy and at his best every night. I've just never seen both of those things happen before in any other playoff season.

I guess I would settle for health and disappointment (like, Joel is 100% but Maxey struggles in his first real test and defense isn't good enough) over another year of what-might-have-been.

Everyone is putting so much on the play-in game (terrified of Boston). Think of it from a Celtics fan perspective...we busted all season and we get the freaking Sixers with Embiid or the Heat Culture in round 1???

I mean, if they lose to Miami it would be premature to even worry about Boston. But sure - if you are a Celtics fan you are looking at the same scenario that bounced the Bucks last year (which the #2 seeded Celtics also benefitted from).

The Sixers' Playoff Path Is Impossible and That's What Makes It The Year

There are four teams in the Eastern Conference that inspire any amount of real fear in me this year: the Miami Heat, the Milwaukee Bucks (yes even with Doc in tow), the New York Knicks and the Boston Celtics. To make it to the finals this year, the Sixers will most likely have to beat all four of them, in that order. The Process Sixers have never had a more terrifying slate ahead of them than they do in these playoffs.
