Put this in the Ranger Suarez appreciation thread. We all knew about the assists, but I did not realize that he did not allow a single stolen base in 155 innings this year. Not sure that is even part of the defensive award considerations, but it is still pretty impressive.

The Ranger Suarez appreciation thread should be about a mile long by now. Whatta performance!!! The announcers reminded us about the assists, but missed this spectacular ZERO stolen base stat.

More and more it seems like Thomson can just see the future. Two on and two out in the 5th. The Astros might get back in the game. Maybe Ranger has done all he can. But Thomson doesn't flinch and Ranger closes out the inning. Could have blown up, but it didn't. Don't play poker with Thomson.

Comic relief: After Harper started the party and put the Phils up 2 - 0, the announcers talked up McCullers, saying that he was eating up valuable innings and preserving the relievers for more important duty. Then more runs scored. Think it happened 3 times. LOL!

Maybe don't play poker with Ranger either. McCullers on the other hand clearly has a tell.

The perfect formula last night: early, relentless strong offense, consistent good pitching and the intense CBP crowd

Early runs are really key. They get the players engaged, the starter gains confidence, they ignite the crowd and deflate the opposition.

Especially since all the runs came via the HR. Houston's pitchers have been very effective at suppressing HR. That has been shattered in Game 1 with Realmuto and now this Game 3 explosion.

Went to Angelo’s today and the guys were in there talking about the Astro’s order. Basically they wanted an order for after the game (around 11:30) and Angelo’s closes at 7:00. Owner said he wasn’t going to cook pizza’s for the Astros and not be able to watch the game. Said he would have made an exception for the Phillies though.

I can understand not making special efforts (e.g., after-hours stuff) for the Astros, but generally declining to take catering orders would be rude and offensive. I would like to think that is not characteristic of Philadelphia. Deliberate incivility is not an asset, not something to be proud of - ever.

The whole story was overhyped. The other place that "refused" to serve them was contacted by mistake, the team said they needed "Latin dinners" and it was a BBQ restaurant, apparently they had a whole different restaurant in mind to begin with.

NBC Sports Philadelphia walked back much of its report Wednesday afternoon after it became clear that it was overstated. A spokesperson said the article was updated “to reflect the restaurants’ comments.”

From hitting powerhouse to getting no-hit in 24 hours! Incredible. Javier does not resemble the pitcher he was during the season.

IMHO, today's game is a must win. Some have said that the Phils got themselves out against Framber, suggesting that things could be better next time they face him, but I thought he was just dominant. The vaunted Astro's pen has shown up lately, too.

I will summon the Phils' best hitting with the words I used preceding the 7 - 0 beat down: GO PHILS!!! You're home now. Hit like champions!!!

Huge loss last night unfortunately.

I'm still confident we can win this series, but it is harder now than it was 24 hrs ago.

I'm not sure what to expect with Syndergaard, but we need him to hold them off the board for as many innings as possible since our pen is going to be taxed beyond belief over the next 3 games. We'll need the same from Wheeler.

We also need to score first and build a lead. That will relieve pressure on the pitchers and get our crowd into again tonight. I'm worried the offense has slipped back into neutral, but I'm hoping they power through it.

Middle innings are key tonight. I think we can get 6 outs from Seranthony if we need them. Everybody else is probably 1 inning max.
