The 1980 Phillies had just as many affiliates west of the Mississippi as east of it and that was still the case as recently as 1983. It wasn't until 1988 that the Phillies had all their affiliates in the Eastern Time Zone and it wasn't until 2007 until the Phillies geographically compacted the system to have all the affiliates either within a three hour drive from Philadelphia or at the complex in Clearwater. With Williamsport now out of the picture, the non-Clearwater affiliates are all now compacted to within two hours of Philadelphia.

Youngest player on Jersey Shore is not Mick Abel. The honor goes to Andrick Nava. Kind of an aggressive placement for him since he is so young and has barely played since GCL in 2019. Will be interesting to see where he is.

In the past, minors discussions have tended to be in the daily Minor League Games threads. Don't have to be - if this thread turns into an ongoing discussion thread, I'll change the thread title to reflect that.

So as usual, we're just waiting for the Clearwater roster.

As things stand now, I have a list of 30 players who were on a high-A or higher roster in the offseason, who are not on one of those rosters now - in addition to 32 players who are on the offseason Clearwater roster. I have to think that the issuance of the Clearwater roster is going to also trigger some significant releases - these guys can't all be moved to Injured Lists or the Complex League.

I think Matt Winkelman had us closer to 210 players in the organization stateside which was beyond the 190-player offseason limit and the 180-person in season limit. Likely 10-20 releases I imagine along with injured list placements.

I currently have 186 names, excluding players on the 40-man roster who are nonetheless on minor-league rosters stateside rosters (or on no roster). I'm not sure whether those guys (Crouse, McArthur, Morales, Muzziotti, Ortiz, Sands) count against the 180 limit or not.

FYI, the Jersey Shore assignments just went up on the milb transactions page. I've updated the list in the April transactions post.
