Prediction: Now that they are finally leaving Kingery alone and allowing him to play 2nd base and 2nd base only, watch for him to slowly but assuredly regain his confidence and natural ability. This team has committed many crimes during my time as a phan but how they almost ruined this player was among the worst.
Though always a phan of watching prospects come through the system I can look back now and say that there were likely less than 20 that after being drafted I was SURE of major league success. Some that come to mind of the top of my head...Burrell, Rolen, Hamels, Utley, Schmidt, Luzinski, certainly Drew [though he never signed.] Of course there are more but those pop into my head immediately. And Scott Kingery. I saw him in college and in his early years as a pro and if ever a guy looked like a major league 2nd baseman he did.
Then the Phils became so enamored with the Dodgers Way [everyone can play every position] that they almost ruined Kingery. Look, I know the reports of him changing his swing of his own choosing but who could have been there to stop him and suggest that doubles and triples aren't necessarily the worst thing a 2nd baseman can hit. Instead the Phils seemingly encouraged this balderdash and almost ruined the guy.
My guess...left to slowly rebuild his career at his natural position he will re-establish his big league career. Hopefully its with the Phillies. But it will be somewhere.
