I'm glad the number is not so big that he might actually get a meaningful save against us. But I would laugh.

If you bundle the Phillies' September (11-14) and October (3-1), we are 14-15 in the final month of the season. Not good but not ghastly like some recent seasons. If the last week of the season is really the last seven games, we are 4-1 so far and, at worst, will go 4-3, our first winning final week of the season since 2017 when we went 5-2. And, last week's struggles now probably qualify as a stumble more so than a collapse. So, I think we can say that the September demon has probably been exorcised.

That was a good read. The Alvarez moment seems to represent the phutility felt through many a long year.

So, it's done. Phillies-Cardinals. Much as I've preferred this path all along, this is not the same Cardinals team from July (and even then the Phillies dropped the last two of the four games in St. Louis).

Cards have 93 wins to the Phillies' 87, a +137 run differential to the Phillies' +63, a .654 home winning percentage and a .634 second-half winning percentage (.532 in the first half). They also went 22-7 in August to dispatch the Brewers, then cooled off some in September (15-11). And built their record on a lot of bad teams much like the Phillies. So hey, anything could happen.

Do we know when they’ll announce game times?

You'd like to think today since the seeds are set but maybe they have to wait until all the games are played. I bet we're pretty early on Friday.

No West Coast home teams. The NL series look like the better TV draws so I imagine the Phillies will be at night if they go with Noon, 3, 6, and 9 PM starts. Could easily be the 9 PM since they are central time zone. If they double up on one of the afternoon slots then they'll put the Mets in prime time for a 7:30 or 8:00 start.

BTW we get the K-Rod announcing team from ESPN I think.

Thankfully these games will be on a TV channel most people can find and watch

That makes sense if they can't do a West Coast late night game. Guessing we'll be 2 or 4 then. They probably don't want to put the Seattle series on too early so that might push us to 2:00.

I would think the Padres won't be asked to play the first two games of the day either though as you note they probably want the Mets on prime time anyway.

I got to imagine that for weeks, Mets fans have been of the mindset that their team would be division champs and get to skip the wildcard round. Suddenly, their ticket office has a lot of work to do.

That makes sense to me though guessing ESPN might have preferred a West Coast site to push some of the games later so they are not doubling up on prime time. No day games after night games for the players is good.

MLB.com says the Phillies will be on ESPN2.

Funny I was just looking at my Gcal which had defaulted all three games to 9am Pacific. They got a nice draw! Mariners fans not so much.

MLB.com updated it to say the game is on ABC. Channel 6 for the locals.

Which is weird! But obviously part of the new TV deal for this particular round, no other networks have it.
