The problem is, they can't rebuild or change things with a new manager, because at the end of the day they'll still be the Phillies. I don't say that in a woo-woo way, but clearly the culture is still the same in some ways (and the owner definitely is).
Which is to say: the Phillies didn't make a mistake when they hired Girardi over Baker or Showalter. Baker and Showalter would have come to the same end if they'd been in red pinstripes.
(Of course, it stinks to think the Mets have actually fixed their culture, but changing owners will do that!)
