Is there any scenario will the weather hasn't hit Philadelphia quite as fast and they can play a game there?

It does not sound as if they are even considering it, and Philly would obviously be wet too so there would be no guarantees. The only move that would make sense would be to some park (likely in the midwest) that is empty for Saturday and Sunday. Houston is at home so that would not fit. This would be like the NFL moving the Tampa game potentially to Minnesota. It would be bad for both teams, though of course it would be even worse for the Phillies to travel to DC from Houston for 1-2 games on Thursday before the wild card games on Friday. I wonder if MLB would push the wild card series back a day if that happened.

Once these tropical cyclones move over land and become post-tropical, they have a habit of really spreading themselves out. So, I would say moving the series to Pittsburgh or Cincinnati--both of which are open this weekend--would be just as chancy. Arlington, TX, however, is open and, travelwise, that would work out well for the Phillies.

Slumping Phillies brace for MLB's Nationals series schedule changes,...

Day night DH Friday is set. Possible DH Sunday if Saturday is washed out. One new note from the story is that the Phillies would not play the makeup games Thursday if they had clinched a wild card but seeding vs the Padres was still in doubt. I guess they go winning percentage at that point.

It's absolutely staggeringly incomprehensible that MLB is not moving the series to another city.

Maton at SS this afternoon. Stott's ABs have really looked bad to me lately. He just hit a wall 2-3 weeks ago and his swing is loopy and slow.

Now, it's looking like Friday may be the worst day with Saturday the best day.

I guess there was a chance things could speed up if the storm got over water again.

Still a good decision to schedule 2 for Friday. Getting the first one done in the afternoon may be more plausible than the night game. All this complicates my game time decision to go to the afternoon game tomorrow. I'll probably be able to sit behind home plate with the handful of other fans that might get there.

Good seats are a bonus. Lots of Phillies fans may be there as in past years. I remember going to game in 2007 and there were more Phillies fans than Nat fans.

I'm really starting to hate this particular Phillies team. I want a new rebuild in the worst way. I would rather have three years of tanking than following this current Phillies team.

My consumption of Phillies baseball for most of this season has been compromised of checking the box, watching highlight videos after games, tuning in a game every 10 days to have my emotional investment punished, the message board and reading the beat writers hoping to find a glimmer of hope. It’s getting harder and harder to relive the same seasons over and over.

Seriously, how are they going to rebuild? Winning organizations have stability -- they are still in churn mode. They have a weak minor league system, they blew out the budget this year and owe another $80 mill to Castellanos. We basically built this team around 4 DHs. They won't have a primo draft pick for a while. Posters complain that we can't get the crucial hit in an inning, but we have so many slow players that all too often three singles doesn't score a run. Four singles in an inning is a tough ask.

Classic jinx. Phillies have been doing it for over a month. I know people who already bought packages to lock in their NLDS Game 3 ticket.

The problem is, they can't rebuild or change things with a new manager, because at the end of the day they'll still be the Phillies. I don't say that in a woo-woo way, but clearly the culture is still the same in some ways (and the owner definitely is).

Which is to say: the Phillies didn't make a mistake when they hired Girardi over Baker or Showalter. Baker and Showalter would have come to the same end if they'd been in red pinstripes.

(Of course, it stinks to think the Mets have actually fixed their culture, but changing owners will do that!)

The Phillies have the same problem as the Flyers, an owner (management) that refuses to lose to win, so they patch year to year instead of committing to a long-term vision and building a sustainable organization.
