I’m not sure I’d survive watching an extra innings scoreless playoff game if the Phillies were involved. Quite a performance by the Rays and Guardians pitching staffs.

Time was we used to have a thread for every series, but with the bloat, not so much! Also it's been a long time since we had a Phillies thread to keep our attention away from the other teams!

I can't speak for anybody but myself... but as long as the Phils are in it, I don't need much coverage of other games. Just an after-the-fact "Oh cool. Seattle won." is quite enough.

It would be nice to see the Mets nuked, but I don't need to experience that in real time (and given what our calendar looks like tomorrow, it's a good thing I don't need that! ).

The highlight of my day was driving to and from Newark Airport listening to 660 The Fan whinny abot the Mets. My favorite line from one of the hosts was “the Braves better beat the Phillies because I will not be able to take the Phillies winning and the Eagles being 5-0.” Second favorite was the whining that the stadium was not full for Mets game three. Hard to believe.

Perhaps these near-weeks off are not helpful for the high seeds? Remember how that week off seemingly sapped the 2007 Rockies' momentum. And, there were plenty of occasions where the sole wildcard which had to play for its life until the bitter end of the regular season upended the top seed which had wrapped up its division at least a week earlier from 1995-2011.

Well there might still be time.

I don't know if I would view the Padres as a real break from the Dodgers at this point. They'll have beaten two 100+-win teams, they have incredible players and it's still a 2-3-2 West Coast road series. But I'd take it either way!
