Given that Olson just cost the Braves 2 recent number one picks, another recent top 100 prospect, and a decent young HS arm - do we really want to know what the price for Chapman will be? Kind of think it starts with Bohm and Rojas and the As probably want one of Abel and Painter too. Olson was better last year, but Chapman has been better in more years than Olson.

I would rather have Olsen than Chapman, but both are fine defensively - which we lack. Not looking to give up the farm for Chapman. Hopefully we will see the "plan" in a few days.

Mariners not going to be in on Bryant any more but do pretty well in this deal:

Makes one think that the Phillies might have preferred this deal to whatever they are about to do. The price of picking up Suarez' contract is a pretty good young OF in Winker.

The Braves' willingness to do that deal (at a high trade cost) makes a lot more sense now.

That is like the deal the Phillies should have signed Realmuto to right after they traded for him. Use the last 2 years of arbitration to lower the AAV of the long term deal if you are sure you want to keep that player long term.

That seems like a great deal for the Braves for the next 8-9 years at an average of $21 million. Big time hitter and great glove at 1B. Does this deal lower Schwarber’s price?

That's $26 mill a year through his age 36 season. I predict 3 years or more of pain for Rockies. The key to Schwarber deal is only 4 years through age 32 season. Seems a lot less risky. Kudos to DD.

That Bryant deal will go down in history as one of the leagues worst. He just isn’t that good of a player anymore and has been heading in the wrong direction. $26M for maybe 2 WAR now and probably 0 WAR at the end of the contract is a disaster.

It's a baffling deal. They just traded Arenado. And he'll probably never win anything there (though that may yet be true of JT and even Bryce). I guess he already won though.

He probably has a few 3-4 WAR seasons left in him depending where he plays but after that, no.
