Maybe we'll get a surprise from one of the minor league outfielders. I don't fault Moniak at all for not being ready. Imagine if he had gotten 500 AAA at bats last year. With that he might have been able to put up a 700 OPS in CF this year.
Who knows if someone also from the group of Josh Stephen, Matt Vierling, and even Cornelius Randolph might surprise. The year off will produce some upside surprises alongside the releases we are seeing in the transaction thread. Not expecting it of course, but anything is possible. Muzziotti was probably the most likely candidate for a year away upside surprise but unfortunately he may not even be at camp yet because of his visa issues. He would have been Reading's CF last year and LHV this year if he had been on a typical course. And with major league defense and good bat to ball skills, the 18-months delay might have allowed him to build some of the strength he needs to be a decent player.
