2021 MLB Trade Deadline Deals - Non Phillies

I have to admit, I don't like these new rules on trades and September recalls. Through the years, plenty of consequential waiver trades took place after July 31. And, while some teams--notably Kapler's Phillies--went overboard in the number of recalls they brought up, sometimes they do make a difference (think Marty Bystrom in 1980) and I always saw the opportunity to see them in person after the minor league season ended to be something of a treat as we got to see possible glimpses of the future. That was especially so in the bad seasons. One that jumps out at me was Rollins coming up in September of that dismal 2000 season and putting up good numbers. It's not shallow hyperbole to say--with the benefit of hindsight--that Rollins' 2000 September was the first glimmer of the coming dawn after what had been a long, dark night.

I guess if there is a non-40 man outfielder who hits right-handed out there that we like better than Jorge Bonifacio it is a deal we might think about if Cutch is out for more than 10 days. Just not sure Vierling is ready and Moniak is another left-handed bat when we already have 4 of them in the OF mix (Harper, Herrera, Jankowski, Miller) with only Williams (who we never play and has now gone cold) from the right side.

I think teams should be able to bring up as many as they want... but pick set number per game to be active. With a limit on relievers.

There's literally nobody on the 40 the Phillies would bring up that they haven't already this year. Haseley, I suppose. Seranthony is coming anyway. Yeah, it's nice to see the minor leaguers but it makes the games unwatchable, gives certain teams an unfair advantage, and also this year the minor league season won't even be over in September.

I expect we'll still see some adjustments in new CBA.
