The Bryce Harper contract looks like really good value right about now. Seager is clearly very talented, but hes only topped 100 games three times. Though, to be completely fair to him, he did play in the equivalent of 140 games in 2020.

Things should slow done after today. Many of these deals need physicals to be completed by Wednesday to be finalized.

It's like they are copying the Phillies and Angels approach. A meh-roster supporting cast and, while it appears they have a bit better minor league rebuild, it doesn't look like next-level stuff. Eesh, just doesn't look like a smart way to go about it.

Throwaway line at the end in a part about how Correa should be paid more than Seager is the Phillies SHOULD go after Correa though they do not seem to be in the mix now.

Correa will come down to who’s owner is the biggest fan maybe more than which team makes the most sense. I’m sure Middleton will sit on his hands on that one, but for a fan-owner like him, it sure must be tempting- right?

I do wonder if they wouldn't just be better off going all-in on Correa, given his age and position (heck, he could even move to CF) and cobbling the other spots. Like, I'd rather have Correa and Brad Miller/whoever LF platoon than Schwarber and Didi. Especially since CF seems unlikely to provide much offense no matter which way they go.

That is my thought. Pay Correa and go inexpensive in other places like adding a defense-first CF and just platoon bats in LF.

Correa is good enough defensively that he probably stays at SS for 5 years or so and then could be your long term 3B. it is not like we think we'll get more than a few years out of Bohm there anyway because if Bohm ever loses a step after he is 28 he is probably exclusively a 1B/DH (and hopefully he hits well enough to play that role).

Reason number 5,183 to never trust anything MLB says. Of course they are playing with the ball. They wanted more home runs until they got too many. They wanted more pitch movement until they got too much.

Maybe they could just work with the players on a standard ball and make it behave like it did 20 years ago when 3-outcome baseball was not the norm?
