Stove is definitely getting hot. They are saying Bryant won't sign before the lockout. Lots of teams sniffing Taylor. My guess is Phillies are more focused on LF (Schwarber?) and closer.

But not really. An overwhelming majority of the available players, good ones included, will still be available post-lockout. The real question is have the Phillies even tried to sign any of the players who are no longer available? They couldn't have tried that hard on Hector, even.

Also, it's three full days (plus three hours tonight). December 2 isn't until Thursday.

My mistake - I thought it was December 1st. But my comment was about the mad rush to get things done before things shut down for awhile. I know that there will be another hot stove season, but who knows when it will start.

Sources indicate the Miami Marlins and Pitcher Sandy Alcantara are in agreement on a 5 year 56 million dollar contract extension. Deal is pending a physical, though club has not confirmed yet. Will be the largest contract in MLB History ever given to a Pitcher with 3 years of arbitration remaining.

Semien is already 31 and is coming off of the second-best year of his career, so the Rangers are buying high. $25m per year feels steep to me. Congrats to Semien. If this was his price, I'm glad the Phils didn't pay it.

No matter how good Scherzer is for them it seems highly unlikely he’s going to string together anymore 200 inning seasons at his age- no way I’d pay 42 million for that.

A lot of this fast early market is pitching but Semien's deal certainly must be making all the other SS types and other versatile bats happy.

And yeah I'm not sure how I feel about it all from the Phillies POV (but i guess that's for another thread).

Seager supposedly wants to sign today, so we'll see what the market is. Guessing his contract will have a similar AAV to Correa but just be a year or two shorter. 8/240 for Seager. 10/300 for Correa?
