Some of that is chance I am sure, but I am guessing there are some analytics about developing pitchers because they can be valuable in their 6-7 years of control when measured per dollar. Draft pitching just may be a better value than international free agent pitching. The opposite might be true with position players (where Latin America is a better value).

Also...Kahlil Watson got 4,540,790. Which is 650,000 More than we gave Andrew Painter. As much as I liked our draft, if you had told me my choices were Painter+Ottenbreit (or Viars; take your pick) or Watson+Senior Sign, I think I would have picked Watson and the Senior Sign.

Fabian is also Interesting to me. He and the Red Sox did not have a deal when they took him and the Red Sox just assumed he would eventually blink which he didn’t

Braves 2nd round pick RHP Spencer Schwellenbach will need Tommy John surgery, sources tell @JeffPassan and me. He was the 59th overall pick, signing for nearly $200,000 under slot value. He was my 46th ranked prospect in the draft, was also top 3 round prospect as a shortstop.
