Yes, hopefully he is not out with the COVID or at least will not have a serious illness if he has tested positive.

I had in mind communicating information remotely with other coaches and discussing film of pitchers and so on, if he is quarantined but not seriously ill.

Maybe we learn more tomorrow or soon. Ideally, Price is back with the team soon.

For sure, up until the first pitch I doubt it will be a huge issue. Paradoxically, would be more of one if closer contact was allowed. But these days the pitching and hitting coach are like coordinators in football, as we've already seen from the stories about VV this week, the assistants are more hands-on.

Stock got claimed by the Red Sox. I was not that impressed in the summer camp games. Good velocity but the location was never that great. He is also 30, so not sure there is much improvement possible.

I'm sure he's no better or worse than Kelley, it's a coin flip with these guys and some teams simply have more room on their 40.

I haven't seen where any teams have picked up Swarzak or Liriano either.

The contact between the two teams was so minimal, and as we know now, game action doesn't meet the CDC definition of close contact, except maybe a slide/tag, or if an infected runner stood at 1B for an entire inning. You would wonder about the umps as an intermediary too. The Marlins are obviously exercising caution about which players should be allowed to travel together (or at all).

But this is what the system is set up for. They've got 3 guys on their taxi squad (some of whom played today I assume) and 27 more guys back in Florida who can play tomorrow night. Yup, crazy. But the new normal unless things get really bad.

The tally of sick Marlins is up to fourteen. Basically, that team has to be shut down. How many Phillies were infected remains to be seen. How do you clean up the clubhouse that the Marlins used at CBP? The season has to be hanging in the balance.

I would imagine they move tomorrow's game to NYC (and potentially add a DH game Wednesday or Thursday).

I think they need to test everyone in the Phillies organization today and get those results back. Probably not enough time to move the whole caravan to NYC.

16 tests and two cancelled games and they're still gonna try to keep going, huh? Seems like the notion that it's okay for players who have been in contact (not "close") with people who tested positive to just go ahead is flawed. Of course they all might have already had it Saturday and just not tested positive yet.

And yeah, if the Phillies don't have to isolate, is one day of testing enough?

Are they not testing everyone every other day routinely? Also, taking temperatures twice per day for everyone? I am not sure how fast they get test results, but that seemed to be a problem when they were first opening the summer training camps. They need test results in less than 24 hours to have any chance to control and limit outbreaks. I would also assume that the Phillies would get every day testing for a couple days given this possible exposure to the COVID during the weekend series.

I assume they are doing a super heavy cleaning and disinfecting of the facilities at CBP today and if they get negative test results back for the Phillies, which I would hope would be available by late tonight, then they may be able to continue with a game tomorrow night. Of course, positive tests for Phillies' players or personnel in the highest level of access, would likely cause more games to be put off or cancelled.

They tested the Marlins Sunday morning but didn't wait for the results.

I would think you need two days of testing to clear the Phillies, but that also might be doable. Obviously the opposing team's contact is much less sustained/close.

I mean...Realmuto would have alot of contact with marlins players for a whole game.

Pretty sure he's within 6 feet as well...

For sure, the catcher and 1B would be most at risk. If Realmuto wasn't wearing a mask under his catcher's mask he should be, though masks are still largely preventive of transmission rather than reception.

I think any individual AB is still fairly low risk, it's not prolonged, close contact. But it may have been 15 or 20 ABs.

And all of our batters were at risk next to their catcher and 1B. Were they masked?

I was wondering when we might hear who was on the taxi squad and the current answer is... no one. That will probably change for Miami or Atlanta.

(Have also noticed a lot of writers - though not Gelb - still conflating the three-man "taxi squad" with the alternate site roster.)

Teams are permitted to carry three extra players with them this season on the road (provided one is a catcher) as ready-in-waiting roster replacements to avoid logistical issues. But the Phillies do not expect to use a taxi squad — at least to start the season. The Phillies’ reserves are training at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, which is a relatively short drive to many of the team’s road destinations.

The players who are designated for the taxi squad do not receive big-league salary or service time; they are entitled to the $108.50 per diem.

Assuming we have baseball again I wonder if they will just skip Eflin's turn? Either let him a pitch a sim game to get his count back up or pair him with Howard? Though Girardi sounded like he wasn't gonna give up on Vinny just yet.

Of course if there's a doubleheader that changes things.
