Probably 30% cumulatively. Maybe 50% for a cup of coffee. Puello was a $460K international signing. Remember we also dealt Pivetta and Russ and Seabold. And we came off a pretty mediocre international signing season unless we have a surprise or two left. Now we did add lots of NDFA arms this year, so maybe it was a conscious plan to trade from their inventory of lower level pitching prospects.

Yeah. But it's not like we haven't seen them option a guy who doesn't deserve it merely because he has options. Otherwise you have to bail on Hale, which is not that big a deal but they still might prefer to delay it. Only other candidate is Parker.

I guess you could bring Jojo back for the 5 double-headers. Still seems that he deserves to remain especially with Morgan looking shaky. Somebody else will get hurt within the next 10 days most likely anyway.

Ramey, Puello and Geraldo all had really good numbers/peripherals with Ramey and Geraldo in the GCL and Puello in the DSL.

I think they might be in the 55-60 range if I really had to rank them as in addition to Winkleman's Top 50, I'd put guys like Victor Vargas, Ben Brown and a few others ahead of them.

Probably true. Vargas had a larger bonus than Puello and started in GCL so he clearly is seen as better. But Puello's year was nice last year and it is reasonable that they wanted him to get more innings in the DSL.

Brown is a bit different. A year older than these 3 and also had TJ surgery. So he had a little more time to show he is a prospect (something lower level bonus prospects need) but also has the uncertainty of coming back completely. Hopefully he'll be ready to go in 2021 (or even Instructional League) as his surgery was early in the season in 2019 (16 months ago).

All 3 were lower level prospects to some degree. But then they played well enough for a year or two to get noticed. Half of the lower level prospects never do that.

Lower level prospects have less value right now b/c of the uncertainty whether there will be minor league baseball next year, and how many levels.If you lose a team or two it'll be hard to find work for all your marginal pitching prospects.

Plus we don't know how many "futures" the Phillies have signed but won't announce until next year.

Given Klentak's focus on older RP arms, I think they have probably prioritized potential starters in the low minors, and will consider the other arms expendable.

Fangraphs did not think too much of the 3 we traded. Of the 33 prospects that have been named and traded around the deadline we had Seabold (12th), Russ (26th), Puello (29th), Geraldo (31st), and Ramey (32nd). In the note at the bottom on PTBNL they only note the Tampa and Pittsburgh prospects. Boston was an "or cash" as I recall and now that they are saying they are still under the competitive balance threshold after Phelps, I am guessing they took a little more cash.

It's not entirely clear what we might be getting from Boston. A lot of times "or cash considerations" ends up actually being cash. I wonder if it is condiitonal in some way (and if so, how)?

Is there a mistake in their "PTBNL" chart? They have us listed as giving a player to TB and receiving a player from TB in the Garcia trade. I'm assuming we are only getting a player?

Yes that appears to be a mistake. Only Garcia that went back and forth was Edgar, this year anyway.

So both Fangraphs and MLBTR don't even mention Boston potentially owing us a PTBNL or cash. Is that because initial reports weren't true or is it just because it's missing from MLB's official transaction?
