Ditto, good luck, Derek, with your next adventure. Philadelphia fans will always appreciate you.

Things may yet be going Daryl's way. The Blazers may not even want Ben anymore - they might take the draft picks the Sixers get for him from someone else (though they'd obviously want some of the young players).

Day 1 of the Trail Blazers’ rebuild — count on it, a massive rebuild is coming to Portland this winter —

Well, it wouldn't be for the Sixers, obviously.

_Multiple sources have told The Athletic that Lillard would like to play with Philadelphia 76ers three-time All-Star Ben Simmons. The Trail Blazers’ league-worst defense would instantly improve, and sharing a backcourt with a non-shooter could work given Lillard’s high-volume usage._

Sources say the Trail Blazers, under Olshey, discussed the framework of a trade for Simmons, moving CJ McCollum, a first-round draft pick and a young player such as Nassir Little or Anfernee Simons to Philadelphia. The 76ers, sources said, at one point asked the Trail Blazers for McCollum and multiple draft picks and multiple draft swaps, which Portland rejected. Olshey maintained significant confidence in the roster he constructed. Now, it’s unclear if there’s a deal to be had with the 76ers. But with Olshey out, who among chair Jody Allen, vice chair Bert Kolde and Cronin would be the one making the call on a Simmons trade or any acquisition designed to alleviate Lillard’s concerns?

Interesting articles....thanks for posting

That Feb 10th date for Portland could be pivotal

Things with the Blazers seem to be changing by the minute...some team may be entering a rebuild at the right time for the sixers...

Kinda like this on as long as the first rounder is lightly protected at least:

Portland Trail Blazers (POR) receive: Ben Simmons (PHI), 2023 second-round pick (PHI)
Philadelphia 76ers (PHI) receive: Brandon Ingram (NOP), Tomas Satoransky (NOP)
New Orleans Pelicans (NOP) receive: CJ McCollum (POR), Shake Milton (PHI), 2023 lottery-protected first-round pick (POR), 2024 first-round pick (PHI), 2022 second-round pick (POR)

No way. We are giving up Simmons, Milton and a first round pick for Ingram? Should we throw in Embiid and the Phanatic?

I would think that if the first round pick was coming back instead I would think about it, but this is way too much.

I see you got this from WIP (also has trade machine links).

The scenario where the Blazers trade Dame (or he demands a trade) is now seeming a lot more likely than the one where they go get Ben for him.

Also CJ is hurt, which is probably fine for the Pelicans this year (they're going nowhere) but giving up a 24 year-old for a 30 year-old doesn't improve their long-term outlook either. Cap/trade machinations aside why wouldn't they just want Ben?

thank you!

I was trying hard to figure out what i was missing. I don't think I would trade Simmons for Ingram straight up.

Just WIP creating content. It will start to get crazy after the holidays (maybe even before since all those other players become tradeable soon).

What's interesting is we haven't heard a peep about Ben lately. Team has been struggling for various reasons but the distraction (or even his absence per se) isn't really one of them.

Yea, I think the problem is that without him (or the assets he would bring) this is only an above average team. And when Embiid is out or hurt, this is a below average, almost bad team.

Obviously the team continues to try and move him, but until some team really ā€œneedsā€ him his price will stay very low. Maybe at the trade deadline.

Regardless, Hinkie seems willing to be a 6th or 7th seed this year if he thinks he can get the assets to make them a #1 seed going forward. What he doesn't want to do is a trade that just gets them to #4 and maybe good enough to win the East. Ben's value won't really go up, just the available player pool (and team's looking to deal).

Still can't rule out Harden, I don't think (for next year).

Woj tweeting that Sixers are becoming more active in trade talks, but also that Lillard is not available (which lines up with what Portland's new GM said publicly yesterday, but hey, it's early).

I think at this point, they should forget about about Lillard for the immediate time being and go full court press on Beal. The Lillard situation might not fully devolve to the point where he wants out until next offseason, whereas Beal might be available this season.

Maybe. But they still might have to wait until February for Beal. Who might not even get traded.

There are going to be a lot of other options out there, even if they don't bring back an absolute star. If they want the team to be better for the first six weeks of 2022 they might have to move. Then add some more (or flip some of what they got) at the deadline.

A lot of discussion around Ingram now. Might be a three-way deal since Simmons/Zion is not a great pairing.

Philadelphia has been aggressively trying to assemble two- and three-team deal structures to land a package that would include a top 25-level player, sources said.
