Seems to me they should just forfeit. They can't win, and you're putting those seven players at greater injury risk (especially Green and Howard). Either way it's gonna be a joke of a nationally televised game!

Well, a bubble season wasn't ever viable, and neither is making up a large number of games. A bubble playoff still could be, if it comes to it.

It's inevitable that some teams will get the short end of the stick. I just don't understand the loophole between active and dressed.

You gotta treat it like an exhibition game I guess. See what some of these guys have. Obviously Doc is doing this with the long week ahead in mind.

Sixers hung around for a little while...Maxey with 33 points so far.

They got a look at Maxey and some of the other 2nd/3rd unit guys in extended minutes. I think Paul Reed was very active (but raw), Bradley was more than serviceable (better in some ways than Dwight, at least today), and Joe showed he can catch-and-shoot. Maxey obviously balled out.

They hung around until just before halftime and played a good 4th quarter.

Some foljs on Twitter are saying the NBA pressured the sixers to activate Scott in order to play...not sure if that is true or not.

I am going to get very upset when some other team has a COVID Breakout and the Sixers game is postponed. This was ridiculous.

Maxey looks like a real find, and exactly what the Sixers lack - a combo guard that can get his own shot.

Maxey looks very good.

I think the game being played is a real travesty if fans are paying to watch the game.

The other side of the coin is the Sixers did scratch Embiid due to back soreness (and this wasn't a back to back scenario) late, Denver did fly into Philadelphia, not easy not in a bubble to reschedule the game.....

My bigger concern long-term for the Sixers is how does Embiid play 4 series in a row in the play-offs. They need him to beat the elite teams in the play-offs. Just looked it up, Jabbar played 80 games at 29 minutes per game at age 40. The guy was revolutionary with his conditioning - the heavy jump rope, martial arts, etc...why he is an all-timer.

Hopefully Embiid continues to mature, I know it is a different time, but they need him healthy and playing to be a top team.

The NBA has a pretty cut-and-dried rule: if 8 players are available the game will be played. The Sixers actually had 10 available counting Embiid and Simmons who were scratched with what were reported as "phantom" injuries, and counting Scott who was really not ready to come back. They should have played the game, even though they were greatly outmanned, and did so. As long as other teams are held to the same standard I don't have a problem with playing the game, and it was pretty fun to watch.

But why did Scott count if he couldn't play? I imagine it probably is true that there was pressure - if they hadn't dressed Scott the league would have questioned sitting both Ben and Joel.

The real issue is not the game yesterday, it's that they are going to be similarly hindered for another 2-3 games, at least.

But it's not supposed to be fair. Eventually games will get cancelled without being made up and that will be unfair for some teams too (whether because they lose games against a weaker opponent or lose chances to beat conference competition).

Kind of seems like both sides were feinting and bluffing. Seems to me if Simmons and Embiid had been ruled out earlier the game wouldn't have been played but if the NBA could force Scott to dress why not them too?

Embiid has apparently (I saw it second hand) called out the NBA for the double-standard in postponing the Heat/Celtics game WRT the Sixers Nuggets game.

The rules are the rules, that game was going to be played when the Celtics had eight players, and then the Heat ended not having eight. I just don't fully understand the machinations of how, why and when Embiid, Scott and Simmons were counted as available. And while it would be easy to take advantage of the situation, it also seems like bad policy in this season, particularly, if you're not allowed to allow for a last-minute injury.
