NBA trade idea: Ben Simmons to Portland, Brandon Ingram to Philly

The scenario where the Blazers trade Dame (or he demands a trade) is now seeming a lot more likely than the one where they go get Ben for him.

Also CJ is hurt, which is probably fine for the Pelicans this year (they're going nowhere) but giving up a 24 year-old for a 30 year-old doesn't improve their long-term outlook either. Cap/trade machinations aside why wouldn't they just want Ben?

I was trying hard to figure out what i was missing. I don't think I would trade Simmons for Ingram straight up.

Just WIP creating content. It will start to get crazy after the holidays (maybe even before since all those other players become tradeable soon).

What's interesting is we haven't heard a peep about Ben lately. Team has been struggling for various reasons but the distraction (or even his absence per se) isn't really one of them.

Yea, I think the problem is that without him (or the assets he would bring) this is only an above average team. And when Embiid is out or hurt, this is a below average, almost bad team.

Obviously the team continues to try and move him, but until some team really “needs” him his price will stay very low. Maybe at the trade deadline.

Regardless, Hinkie seems willing to be a 6th or 7th seed this year if he thinks he can get the assets to make them a #1 seed going forward. What he doesn't want to do is a trade that just gets them to #4 and maybe good enough to win the East. Ben's value won't really go up, just the available player pool (and team's looking to deal).

Still can't rule out Harden, I don't think (for next year).

Woj tweeting that Sixers are becoming more active in trade talks, but also that Lillard is not available (which lines up with what Portland's new GM said publicly yesterday, but hey, it's early).

I think at this point, they should forget about about Lillard for the immediate time being and go full court press on Beal. The Lillard situation might not fully devolve to the point where he wants out until next offseason, whereas Beal might be available this season.

Maybe. But they still might have to wait until February for Beal. Who might not even get traded.

There are going to be a lot of other options out there, even if they don't bring back an absolute star. If they want the team to be better for the first six weeks of 2022 they might have to move. Then add some more (or flip some of what they got) at the deadline.

Sixers played a very good game against the Warriors on Saturday night...for the most part, Thybulle was able to take Curry out of his game....holding him to 18 points.

If Washington decides to move Beal, would Simmons, Maxey and next years 1st round pick get it done, or would you think they would have to include Thybulle as well.

Washington not mentioned. Given where they are in the standings and the fact that Beal is signed next season why would they trade him at this point, even if they don't extend him?

Washington is going to take the year and figure out if they can compete with what they have. Same record as Philly now. Just can't see them dealing Beal until the offseason unless things completely collapse. Simmons was probably a better fit too before they got Dinwiddie.

You can't trade both Simmons and Maxey for Beal, he's not really a point guard, more of a 2 who can be a secondary and crunch-time shot creator.

I agree with Andy, anyway, Beal is not getting traded this season.

Agree, I would not target Beal until WSH gets serious and I have concerns about Beal's fit here anyway.

Forward Brandon Ingram of the New Orleans Pelicans came in just outside the top 25 at No. 26. Portland Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum was No. 30. And two-time All-Star Domantas Sabonis of the Indiana Pacers ranked 40th.
