I was wondering if the off-season thread should be locked, but either way?

Though: any discussion about Harper et. al is technically still off-season activity, while any discussion about things happening in Clearwater on the field is ST.

Juan Mendez was a name I figured we might never see again. He was the "slightly too old for DSL" catcher that hit .379 with power there 2 years ago and then appeared to get hurt and did not play last year. Since he is 20 one would hope he could skip to Williamsport though the catching competition could be crowded there. Might be more room if they moved him off of catcher. Interesting name to hear again nonetheless.

Not me. Nor am I related to Ross Gload.

I like to think I am related to Hall of Famer Stan Coveleski. On my maternal grandparents' marriage certificate, my great grandmother's maiden name is shown as Coveleskie. They were married in Shamokin, PA, which is the hometown of Stan Coveleski. Sometimes Stan's last name was misspelled with an extra "e" at the end, including on some baseball cards. I have no doubt that some of the Polish names are misspelled on that certificate.

Of course there is evidence that Stan and I are not related, namely my complete lack of baseball talent.
