I don't want to hurt the farm, but I would to get a talent like Lindor. The money doesn't really bother me. Even with the commitment to Harper and hopefully Realmuto (and Nola, eventually), they can afford it. Most of the other bigger contracts will be off the books in a year or two.
It might well be cheaper to get Lindor midseason (a la J.D. and Hamels), but it would be worth it to me to have an extra half season of him, plus not have tow worry about whether he would be available later.
I would be happy to see additional creative thinking to accommodate Lindor. Trading Segura occurred to me as well. Even trading Kingery instead of the prospects would appeal to me--he's only six months younger than Lindor and not nearly the player. I wonder whether the Indians might be interested in Hoskins?
There are lots of ways that the Philllies might improve; most of them are pipe dreams, but I don't want to rule out any but the silliest.
