Decent K rate though (10.6) and he does keep the ball in the park (0.7 HR per 9 for his career). The hits/9 is so colored by luck for a reliever it is not the best measure to look at. Loup is not dominant. He is competent and is another option to add to Davis or Morgan (or substitute for one of them if another reliever deal is in the offing).

Totally fine with the price being Waguespack. Low ceiling type that might become a middle reliever for a few years but that is likely it.

Archer price was pretty high. Meadows and Glasnow plus a 3rd player. Like if we traded Williams and Pivetta and another prospect.

Obviously we are not willing to (literally) sell the farm to win this year. Klentak clearly loves our young core and prospects and more or less feels like they are playing with house money this season. I’m fine with it. Let’s get our young core valuable experience and hopefully a taste of the postseason and go make a FA splash this offseason.

Y'know, it feels like they didn't make any big moves, but they potentially just changed up 25% of the starting 8, and if not that, they upgraded 50% of the bench, with Quinn and Crawford back in the mix too.

Braves were pretty busy but I don't know that they got much better either.

I am kind of glad they did not go get a straight defensive SS like Hecheverry because I think Crawford could solve that problem and be better offensively. And if Kingery struggles we'll just play Cabrera and live with the defensive issues.

Kapler has been raving about Quinn's speed and defense (Red Sox made a good play to get him on the CS but he also caught at least one ball in RF that Williams would not have). At least Kapler realizes that Quinn does exactly what this team's starters do not really do.

The Phillies really didn't give up much and potentially added some pieces that can help. Can't argue too much about that. Its probably the right course of action for the youth of this team.

Adding Ramos and Caberera to the offense are nice moves that didn't upset the apple cart as far as the rebuild goes and selling off of prospects. I like that. I don't get Loup. Waguespack is comparable to Mark Leiter, but the Phillies also designated and lost Zac Curtis. To me, Curtis and maybe even Milner are better than Loup. But now it is just Morgan and Loup as the lefties in the pen.

The Phillies must think Loup is better. Milner really does not have major league stuff and Curtis has bounced around a lot. It is not a big upgrade but it is an upgrade.

They've had a long look at Curtis and Milner, would be moving on in any case. Neither will be on the 40 man roster come this fall.

I think Gilbert has moved ahead of them, Windle has better stuff though inconsistent, and Dohy and Singer at Reading may move fast. So I see Loup more of a tryout, it's his job to lose.

Only thing that worries me if we give up a real prospect for Ramos, like Grullon or Torres or Holmes.
But as long as it's a "B" level lower minor league player, I'm fine with it.

I wouldn't worry about. When it's PTBNL or cash you only get $50,000 if it's cash. I doubt the player alternative has a ton more value. My guess is it's either someone marginal or someone they weren't going to protect in Rule V this fall (which is also by definition marginal).
