Well, how does it compare to the Chapman trade? That was the really high-end deadline deal of recent years. Others have been more modest.
I don't believe it is four guys for just MM either and who knows which names are even correct (employees and ex-employees are just gossiping like the rest of us, even if they are scouts. I know of a high-up at one franchise who is currently scouting his own team's system, but that doesn't mean he knows who is actually available, or in what deals).
But, it isn't that far a ride from two big names to three big names, if you're truly trying to win a three-team bidding war. We'll see.
And if it's Franco, you have to remember that the Phillies want to trade him. We may rightly worry about losing him based on what he's showing right now but he'd be their first choice of the three major leaguers.
