Well, they knew they had the first situation when they went after Butler (and was Zhaire even supposed to help that much that fast?). And part of the reason they have the second thing is because they traded for him.
But his conclusion is probably correct. Of course this probably wasn't the best team in the East this year no matter what (unless they'd scored one of the big off-season prizes or Fultz magically reverted to expectations).
It seems that every time the Sixers have the opportunity to notch a "statement win" against a really good opponent, they come up short.
Didn't they just beat the best team in the east a week ago?
It was only one shot but Simmons definitely has a nice little mid-range jumper...he just needs to shoot it more.
He actually made two yesterday. Both fall-aways. He needs to be very highly consistent and accurate when the defender backs off him 3 or 4 feet and he can just shoot a wide-open 15-18 foot jumper from the elbow without falling away. If TJ could learn to make that shot consistently, then Simmons can.
Simmons just needs to have a mid-range shot that is fairly consistent...if defenders need to go out and defend it, he'll be almost impossible to defend and it will counteract what the celtics do to minimize him.his shot is definitely coming along.
They beat the Raptors when the Raptors played without 3 starters. Would we say a team truly defeated the Sixers if the Sixers were without Embiid, Simmoms and Butler?
Wins are wins...that is still a good raptors team. They also thrashed a pretty good jazz team...especially lately.
Technically true, but I'm still unimpressed. This team will continue to roll over lesser opponents and get beat when it matters by the BOS and TOR of the world. Coaching will doom them when it comes to late game scenarios... at least they haven't really blown the 20+ point leads that has become Brett's hallmark lately, though I tried to talk myself into believe it had ceased after last year's winning streak only to have it happen in a critical game in the BOS series. Series was over after that loss.
Man, I was so wrapped up in the Eagles, I didn't see any Sixers news and just saw they were blown out by the Blazers. Then I saw that Embid did not play with a sore knee. Not sure which thing is worse, the blowout, or JoJo's knee,,,
JoJo's knee is just soreness, not injury, at least according to published reports...
Am i supposed to be impressed by the celtics?
They aren't exactly setting the world on fire..
Which makes the 76ers failure to beat them even worse
Perhaps they're just a bad matchup for the Sixers?
Thats a valid point...the Sixers are getting closer but it's a bad matchup.
Perhaps, but then what have the 76ers done to address that?
The Fultz draft was intended to get a shot-creator, and the Butler trade, at least in part, was to address the problem with half-court shot creation. We'll see who they sign from the buy-out market.
Sixers beat the Clippers.
Big night for jojo.
