Carlos Beltran retires, going out on top with his WS ring. Never really thought of him much in the HOF discussion but I would say he's probably there, though it would be tough to tell whether his plaque has a Royals cap or a Mets cap.
With that, Adrian Beltre and Bartolo Colon are the last MLB survivors of the '90's and, by extension, the 20th Century. And, Colon, for the record, is also the last Montreal Expo standing. If neither Colon nor Beltre make it to 2020, then the 1990's will be the first decade since the 1910's not to produce at least one player who played in parts of four decades. However, with Beltre still going strong at age 38, it looks like he has a good chance. Colon, meanwhile, may be reaching the end of the road after a terrible season at age 44.
