The Flyers are in a big rebuild — and they can't hide it

Nothing knowledgeable fans don't know.
Give this team Quick and it would be a playoff team, a top goalie hides a multitude of sins.
But they're not that far away, first they have to build depth so they don't play scrubs, then you upgrade the team for a couple years, then you make a deal closing trade or two.

Flyers win a game with 3 seconds left in OT to get a much needed two points.

The NHL should suspend or fire the refs. They gave Carolina a timeout when they were not allowed to call one (after an icing) then missed a crazy hook and slash that stopped Coots from having a point blank shot and then a few seconds later the lineman got in the way of the puck and stopped a break.

These officials should at the very least get suspended for not knowing the rules.

Flyers win tonight 2-1 over the Bluejackets. The haven't lost since the Eagles won the superbowl.

The Flyers have three games left in the season (@ Islanders, vs Hurricans, vs Rangers). Right now they are the first wildcard in the Eastern Confernece, but are tied in points with the Blue Jackets (who have the tie breaker). If the Flyers finish ahead of the Blue Jackets, they will play the Penguins (a bad match up), if behind, they will play the Capitals (who they match up well with). If they drop to the 2nd wildcard (if the Devils pass them in the standings), they would likely get the Bruins or the Lightning, which I would still rather play than the Penguins, who just seem to have the Flyers number.

Gonna be up to the Phillies to give the city four playoff teams this year.

Flyers do in fact clinch the playoffs today, but the bad news, it looks like they will play the Penguins because the Devils and the Blue Jackets are both resting players tonight to avoid playing them. The Penguins just owned the Flyers during the regular season, maybe the Flyers can turn the tables, they are playing well at the right time.

Giroux had a hat trick, and finished the season with 102 points, first 100 point season for the Flyers since Lindros in 1996.

I sort of like playing the Penguins. Nothing to lose--Penguins are supposed to crush us. Reminds me of when the Phils played the Dodgers in the NLCS after the Dodgers went 11-1 against us in the regular season. I believe we swept them.

I don't understand why the Devils or Jackets would rather play the Lightning or Bruins instead. The Devils won the season series with the Penguins. Resting players in order to get a matchup with TB or the Bs is sort of a slap in the face to those teams. That should motivate the top two seeds to want to bury these WC teams.

Me too. If nothing else, it will be a fun series to watch. Couts matches up well with their top forwards. I'm curious if the lines will change.

I was thinking of that Dodgers series too.

Also, let's face it, while anything can happen in hockey, particularly with a team this streaky, a deep playoff run is maybe not in the cards. So it would be fun to just take out the Pens no matter what happens next (kind of like in 2012). And if they do, it will probably mean they got strong goalie play and could still beat anybody left.
