They were never afraid of bringing up talent, Provorov, Patrick and Konecky were 19 year old rookies.
But some players take longer, both Sanheim and Myers have been inconsistent.

And different circumstances, Lindblom dominated the SHL at 20, but for a guy with average speed, there's a big adjustment to the smaller NA rinks.

A lot of the players they brought up this year had NHL bodies but weren't NHL ready, but outside of elite talents, a lot of players need a couple AHL seasons, not unlike ML players who repeat AAA ball to work on their skills.

I agree, but have a minor gripe. I'm a big Couturier fan, but the 2nd line could use more speed. All of those players have a high hockey IQ, which should be spread out with skaters that have more speed and finishing moves. Maybe swap TK with Farabee?

Well, the lines at practice today were different with Laughton returning.

Giroux - Frost - Konecny
Lindblom - Couturier - Voracek
Laughton - Hayes - Farabee
JVR - Raffl - Pitlick

Not sure if they'll use that in the game or not because that leaves no natural center on the 4th line, also would seem like a slat in the face to JVR but we'll know soon enough, they play Calgary this afternoon at 1:00pm.

They also placed Patrick on LTIR, but it is retroactive, so he will not have to miss any games if he is ready to come back, it was just a salary cap move.

Great goal by Provorov. The point total isa bit misleading, isn't it? Didn't they play a league high number of games in November?

Still points in all but two games in the month.. Tied for 4th most points in the league right now. They have played a lot of overtime games, already a couple more than last season.

November was a bit misleading, Hart/Elliott played out of their heads .927 save % between them.
Top guys were Couts, TK, Lindblom, Voracek, Farabee, Provorov and Braun.
Laughton returning reset the Hayes line which then took off, chemistry matters.
A lot of guys need to step up to sustain this pace, but with lines and D-pairs settling down, I won't be surprised if this happens, and kids like Frost need time to acclimate to the NHL.

I thought Voracek was pretty uneven in November--he was the worst player on the ice (turnovers killed him) too often, although his high points are still pretty high. Giroux hasn't hit his stride yet, either.

With the Eagles going belly-up and the Sixers seeming to be missing something, get ready for a rush of irrational exuberance about the Flyers.

Heh, I've seen people already skip right to "pitchers and catcher report in...."

Yeah not enough people follow hockey. Unless the Flyers make a run at the top seed the bandwagon won't really turn up until May. Also for all the angst the Sixers are really the thing this year.

In my defense, I'm not a bandwagon fan. I consider myself an unknowledgable fan of the Flyers. I'll pay attention to the series when they are in the playoffs, but even then that's about it.

No judgment! And I'd say you just described 80% of the city. I say that as a huge hockey fan.

I’m not a fan of hockey as it doesn’t translate well to television. Lots of action, but not a lot of scoring. Mr. SF was a big Flyers fan so I learned the rules. I just find it boring. He swore it was really a great game to go to in person.

Flyer turn a tight game into a laugher late beating the Maple Leafs 6-1. Hart was great early didn't need to do much late, even the goal he let in was a fluke. The only bad news is they lost Raffl to a broken finger and he'll be out for about a month.

I turned the game on last night with about 13 minutes remaining, thought I was jinxing them when Hart let in the tying goal off of a high bouncing save that doinked off his back and in. Then I got to see 5 goals in 10 minutes for the good guys! Myers looked awesome; assisted on 3 goals.

Scary to read for me in particular, as my little cousin just passed away from this. Luckily, that is fairly unusual now, but still terrifying for him and his family. This is probably pretty bad for an athlete to get and continue, but I am not a doctor and really dont know. Hope he gets well soon, he is on the older side to have this diagnosed, I will let medical experts on the board comment on that effect.

Good they found it.

So, off topic, but well, a personal issue. If you havent please consider registering to donate blood marrow. I have matched 3 times in 20 years, and the rumors you hear are correct, it does freaking hurt. That said, it si a very small price to pay to help someone. Takes 20 minutes to register, your doctor can help you, they do have to draw blood to do it as I remember.

This is really horrible to hear. I saw that he was out for the year but I assumed it was a standard injury.

I want to thank you for your comment here because it spurred me to check if I can donate. I assumed the answer would be no as I have never been able to donate blood due to living in the UK in the 80s. Anyone who lived in the UK between 1980 and 1996 is banned in most countries from donating blood due to risk of passing on Variant CJD (Mad Cow Disease/BSE). It seems that this ban has finally been lifted in Ireland so I now have no excuse not to become a donor. I'm going to try and give blood for the first time in the next 10 days, basically as soon as I can confirm I'm allowed to donate and can get to the local clinic.
I will look into donating marrow as well.

I'm a little annoyed though, because I really hate needles!

Just terrible news for Lindblom, I don't care if he ever plays hockey again, I just want him to beat this and live a long and happy life. From the hockey side, this couldn't have happened at a worse time for the Flyers, who have been playing great hockey, with Konecny and Patrick out and Rubstov and Ratcliffe also struggling with injuries on the Phantoms and not ready to come up. JVR has to really step up his game.
