I've already alerted Chris about this. It began about midnight (technically, the cert expired at 11:45 pm).

For the time being - depending on your system/browser, you can tell your browser to override the certificate warning. I've been able to do this (on the Mac) with both Safari and Firefox. Chrome...no. If you're a Chrome user (on the Mac, at least), my recommendation is that, until the cert is updated, just use Safari or Firefox instead. Not ideal (I'm a Chrome user...), but it works.

On the PC... I don't know, at this point. I don't have a test bed here.

Yah, thanks, I know what the warning is about so I just click 'accept/ignore/chillax' on whatever dialog pops up. Basically, I'm just exercising my bad habits. :slightly_smiling_face:

Just as long as y'all are aware, that's what matters.

BTW as the volunteer admin of a few things myself, I say THANKS to all who keep the board running!

Starting today, my browsers are flagging this site as unsafe and urging me to not enter.

Sorry about that. Of course it decided to break while we were out of town for the weekend. New cert is now installed (and the broken automation fixed).

No worries. We coped, eh? Thanks for making it all better!

It seems to be broken again? My bot doesn't work any more because of it, not sure how to work around that.

Once again, some kind of SSL cert problem. I've alerted Chris. Chrome is unhappy, but Firefox allows an easy override.

Firefox on my pc is working but I can't access the site on my iPhone.

On my iPhone:

  • Safari asked permission to override security once, and remembers this on future visits.

  • Chrome splashes a warning, lets me override it; doesn't remember it in future sessions, so I have to do it each time I go to the site. It doesn't have a problem moving between pages on the site, once you're there.

  • Firefox... The version on my iPhone tries to go to the site, briefly throws up a warning page, then reverts back to its "new tab" screen - and it won't stay on the warning page long enough to even read it, much less follow any link it may be showing. I define this as a bug in Firefox; I'm fine with it throwing up a warning, but it shouldn't be denying me access to that warning page and exceptions.

On my Mac:

  • Safari asked once if I wanted to exclude the site from security check, and now it's fine.
  • Firefox - ditto.
  • Chrome - I can go through "Advanced" to get to the home page, but every time I try to navigate to another page on the site, it blocks it again. [EDIT: I have been able to get Chrome on the Mac to cooperate - but I had to dig into Chrome's advanced settings, and then into the Mac's Keychain, and change the default settings on the Certificate that expired yesterday - I've told it to "Always Trust" the site. It works for me - but I don't think I can recommend that others try this, unless you really know what you're doing.]

So... On the Mac, use Firefox or Safari. On the iPhone, use Safari.

I have no ability to test Windows at this point. If we're still having issues on Tuesday, and if I have time then, I may be able to test and update this.)

On Windows, Firefox throws up a warning, and allows you to back out or go to advanced. Once you go to advanced it asks if you want exception for this site, and thereafter it works fine.

Can only access forum if I enter 'incognito' mode on chrome.

As per shillingfan, Firefox can get me in. Still having problems with Chrome, even with "Advance[d]" access using android phone and Windows laptop. I'm in now; I'm happy. :grinning:

Wouldn't it be nice to have our scouting evals hacked by the Cards. Just knowing the Cards wanted our scouting would make my Christmas -- the extra second rounders would be apricot glaze on the fruitcake.

I can get on via Chrome on my mobile devices (android phone and tablet) but not on the desktop. IE gets me in on the desktop.

Avoiding chrome seems the best workaround for me.

BTW, if there is any way to help (i.e. $$) to help keep the site running let us know. We appreciate all the effort over the years from Chris and the moderators.

Thanks for fixing this. There was a sense of relief when I was able to log in again. Really appreciate this site

I'm getting a SSL Certificate is expired message when my bot tries to connect for the game day thread. Is this an issue with my bot or with the software running the site?

Off the top, I don’t know, k. I’ll try to look into it - but I just got back from a 24-hour grind that included six hours of driving, and a night sleeping (or trying to) on a couch in an unheated cottage (it dropped to about 40 F outside), and I’m dead beat…so I don’t know how effective I might be this evening!

OK, first test. I'm having no trouble making a secure connection to the board with my browser, which in the past has always been the issue that tells us the cert is expired (and causes me to petition Chris). Moreover, when I dig into Chrome, it tells me that the philliesphans.com certificate is valid (expires 11/29/21, so it's something we'll need to deal with soon, but not now).

Two possibilities (guesses):

1) I'm not very knowledgeable about how the API key I generated for you (kikutaro) works; could that be expired?

2) (and please don't take offense - I doubt this is the cause, but I have to ask!) is the "current date" on the machine the bot is running on actually "current" - e.g., does the bot's host machine somehow think that 11/29/21 has arrived? E.g., does it think it's November, instead of September?

Which minor league affiliate do you play for?

LOL!

Our summer place is in Sullivan County, at about 2,000 feet elevation. Not winterized (no solid foundation, built on piers). We have a gas fireplace insert (don't ask - my siblings prefer that to an honest wood fire, for God knows what reason), which stopped working over Labor Day. We scheduled a service call for yesterday, and I drove up Wednesday evening (3 hours) to "be there" for a morning appointment. The tech showed up at 2:55 pm. It's fixed; but I had a cold night, and a 3-hour drive drive home late yesterday afternoon. All good now, though!

[And yeah, the cottage is about 45 minutes from Bowman Field (Williamsport); the minor league contraction eliminated my summer ritual pilgrimage to see the kids play. Grr.]
