Problem with Love isn't Love, it's that Simmons isn't a guard, cute idea, but in practice he'll end up as a point forward.
So Love means never having to use Saric.

Sixers need a 3 and D SG/SF, a more athletic version of RoCo, who's better guarding bigger SFs and stretch "4s".

What does simmons have to do with a guy you would bring in as a big who can hurt you from long range?

The problem with Kevin Love is that he's Kevin Love and makes more money than you would pay for a guy playing 20 minutes a night.

I believe his argument is that while Love would work fine on offense with Simmons, it would create a problem on defense where the Sixers wouldn't have enough perimeter defenders.

Not that I want Love, but why would he only play 20 minutes a night?

Oddly enough, Paul George fits this mold (which is why the Cavs want him as he matches up better against the Warriors than Love). I'm not sure his defense is what it once was and he wants to play for the Lakers anyway.

If you have a healthy Embiid/Saric, there aren't many minutes for love.

I don't see Embiid having any effect on Love's role.

Love is much better than Saric. Not that I'm advocating trading for Love, but if they are both on the team, then playing Saric over Love is not a smart move.

Saric will improve his 3 point shot, and get stronger.

The Pacers have absolutely no leverage. I can't imagine they get anything near value for George.

I am really interested in the Sixers moving into the late first round with some of their second round picks for Isaiah Hartenstein, Terrance Ferguson, or OG Anunoby. Also really like Semi Ojeleye after watching him cook Temple the past few seasons.

I'm definitely on the side of good deal for the Sixers' and particularly like the new twist about 2019. I was going to say nice things re: JC regarding two "details" about the trade -- first that he protected the 2018 pick if it was #1 overall, and secondly, that he didn't give the Celts the "better of" the #1 in either 2018 or 2019. Those seem like little details when you don't think that either has any real possibility of happening if you get Fultz, but you just never know as Vlade is finding out.

Now the confirmed deal has another nice little detail -- we give up the better of the 2019 picks, but only if it isn't #1 overall. I like that twist also. So kudos to JC for holding back on the #1 "details" -- also the type of thing the subtley communicates "I'm not desperate."

Now what exactly is the worst trade JC has made since he has been here?

Yes this is a much better deal in reality than either of the rumors floated in the past (we send 3 #1s or we send the 2 #1s plus Okafor and Holmes). Those were awful deals. This is actually a good deal. The Sixers built in the protection that they can't lose the 1.1 next year. Boston builds in the protection that they can't be saddled with a 1.6 or higher next year.

I'd think we'd get a FA this year. There really is no reason to wait. It would be a lucky fluke if we get a primo pick next draft. With Fultz and a FA we are ready to go to the playoffs. This is our last shot (barring outstanding luck) of primo draft talent.

Waiting until next offseason give you an opportunity to see if you will be able to count on Embiid going forward...

I don't see that this matters. If you can't go with Embiid, what choice do you have other than to go with Okafor and Holmes. It is very difficult to find a dominant center. They won't in the draft and FA is very tough, unless they overpay for an old guy who won't be good for long. Better, IMHO to get a top FA now and take your best shot next season (as in the upcoming season). That also gives you the shot before Boston gets to finish re-loading. At this point, I think either Embiid is healthy and we advance in the finals, or he isn't and we're in really tough shape. I'm not thrilled with Brown's intention to get 36 minutes a game out of Embiid. We also need to see what Okafor can do and build his trade value. I'd much sooner not push Embiid beyond 30 minutes and let Okafor and Homes share the load. To push Embiid too hard is begging for another injury.

I dont think you'll sign a dominant center but you can sign one that is at least a starter.

I think this year is really figuring out what you have and deciding what to do next.

Ainge saying that it was unanimous in the Celtics front office to make the move. This would include Brad Stevens. Also said the player they wanted all along will be there at 3. What they have against Fultz is beyond me.

BC saying he'd like to get another 1st round pick in the second half of the draft this year...wonder if they have a player in mind.

they don't have anything against Fultz, they just don't need him in the same way, and get rewarded for it. Imagine if the Top 3 prospects were all bigs this year. Then the Sixers would have probably traded down.
