And that isn't good enough. Since we get the big market penalty and the high-salary budget penalty, and since we want to be solid WS contenders most seasons, we are going to have to become well better than middle of the pack to succeed. With internal guys like Howard, Hamels, Utley, Ruiz and finding Werth on trash heap and Victorino in Rule 5 we were significantly better than average prior/at early phase of last golden era. We also made some great trades then as we did with Sanchez and Marsh today ... witness the Lidge trade (and Lee and Pence before ownership lost their nerve and got budget crazy)
